Default ATTN: BLTC [FAQ, and general cleaning]

so its pretty apparent the rule, official thread, FAQ collect all needs some house cleaning. so BLTC, what do you think are some frequently asked questions that could easily be answered [with something other than google]. also, how do you feel about expanding the thread linkage to include notable threads [like no warnings latest opiod potenation gig, or darkus's LSD thread]?

your suggestions, are help full [meta, theta, throw your two cents in too]..

They only thing I really don't like about official threads is that they tend to get ignored by most of the population. If someone asks a question in one, you usually have to wait days for an answer...if you even get one at all.

I like official threads for the "show this" or "rate this" kind of concepts, but other topics that sometimes need quicker responses tend to get left on the back burner.

What about me though what kind of things should I be doing around here to help? What's everyones opinion on the Internet-Weed-Dude situation? What kind of things does everyone want to see from me in the new year? What about me? If anyone wants to talk to me about anything, or about anything regarding me please quote this post and let me know what's up. Cool guys. Umm.. well I guess that covers just about everything.. and to anyone who's about to flame me, come on.. don't be flamers. How about this, after this sentence the first person to say anything bad about me or anything good about me sarcastically is a Flaming Faggot. I'm an idiot sometimes. What are you going to say?

I think including the notable threads would be a great idea. Just because it's not official doesn't mean it's not noteworthy. What would qualify as "notable" though?

A quick question thread would unclutter some of the posts. So instead of someone making a new thread they could just post it in one thread. Maybe have a mod or a group of people dedicated to responding to the questions. Just an idea.

Good FAQ Q's should be the recommended starting doses for people with no tolerance for the following drugs: Hydrocodone, oxycodone, plus all the benzos.

the "What will I get for my wisdom teeth?" is another common Q.

I.V. thread for everything to do with intravenous administration of drugs. A link to Panthrax's website, how to shoot, advice on shooting, how to prepare a shot, what syringes to use, etc.

There is a thread every week asking how to acquire needles or asking which OC's gel up.

"Shrooms or LSD"
"How much ____ should I take?"
"I'm going to be doing _____; [insert easily answerable question here followed by a "and give me your experiences" protection against instant threadlock]" (pefect example (http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2183217))
"I bought A for $B, did I get ripped off?"
I'd also like an official opiates thread, but that's just lunacy on my part.

I agree that common starting doses would be a good addition to the FAQ.

I dont think we need to make any more official threads. Really they're just a way to *almost* ban annoying threads that would otherwise appear every day.

Stickying them all would take up half the first page so that isnt really viable either.

The main thing that clutters up the forum, IMO, is the plethora of threads that would have never even been posted if the OP just UTFSE before making it.

whats your opinion on an injection technique thread up the vein of say darkus's LSD thread [not quite official, but a place to discuss such]?

also, POC or someone more knowledgeable about benzo's wanna give a shot at a beginners guide [with say doseages before tolerance ie: noob doses?]. i'd give a crack at an opiate one [say like, the beginingers guide to opiates and more?]

by the way, thank you for real responses rather than some idiot phrases, together we can make this place thrive EEK!:DCool

They only thing I really don't like about official threads is that they tend to get ignored by most of the population. If someone asks a question in one, you usually have to wait days for an answer...if you even get one at all.

this tends to be the case, however most incarnations of the dxm thread have been quite succesfull. recently with the new post your stuff thread i had to move all the reserve posts, inb4____'s, and other banter to a seperate NiMF thread. thats what i don't like about "official" threads. thats where i'm thinking the "hall of fame" comes in....

if/when i do this, ima do my best to keep panny's opening post [for legacy sakes]. it sounds like theres a general feeling that a revamp of some sort is needed though.

Great idea, just the amount of pure stupidity and ignorance relating to benzos and opiates(benzos especially) warrant atleast a beginners guide; it would also clear up alot of space from the day to day fuckheads to keep asking what a good starting dose of xanax or codeine would be.

Also, I think it wouldnt hurt if there was a general consenous among the regular members here if everyone agreed NOT to answer posts that are relevant to other 'official' threads already established here. Lets be honest, nobody is going to post a question in a thread 17 pages long if they know they can make a quick post and get an answer on the front page within the hour. Ignoring these post will eventually push the rest of them into Beginners guide/Official threads, or whatever the fuck you want to call them.

If you could get this across to people, it would work great...especially if the moderators were super strict in enforcing this rule. By nobody posting in the thread, or a moderator closing/deleting the thread, they would be off the front page in hours, if not less.

I'm considering starting an opiates guide...like a full blown guide. I think I have the experience to write a fairly good one. I've actually been doing much research on them and printing out hard copies of my information....at least the uncommon knowledge, like bioavailabilities and such. Actually, I'd be very willing to do so. I'll get an outline and make a thread in the coming days for suggestions.

Yeah it was SJ. I forgot we remodded Theta to replace Panny - I kinda forgot you left, lol.

Ok so we have 3 mods then. So the question then becomes: Do we need a 4th mod? BLTC is the most active forum on totse. But on the other hand, it is a very easy forum to mod, all things considered.

So, Vilbe, Theta, do you think we're doing fine on our own or would you like to add one more mod.

[I know I likely said we don't need any more mods when Theta came in. But I'm not going to make that call by myself now.]

Do not start nominating people - or yourself - for mod. If we decide we want another mod, WE will make the decision.

I agree. However I dont think a forum agreement would be enough. If we banned/infracted people who answered questions in threads outside of the official threads they would become less common.

Because nothing in an official thread will ever develop into a real discussion, ever. Might as well just ban it as an topic. No sources, no dxm, no weed. Maybe make a specific list of what is allowed, and just ban anyone who defies it?

I still remember my fury when they made that stupid fucking thread. It was the first official one, and coincided (correlation does not imply causation, i guess) with the primary decline of BLTC as an intelligent forum.

I have campaigned against it since, gradually losing interest over the years. If I saw a thread about DXM with a good question outside of the primary thread, I'd post a response before it could be locked, and balls to anyone's else's thoughts on the matter. On the other hand, I've only been in official threads a handful of times.

Dude. Hey. What's up.

I'm the cunt that started that thing. Personally, I didn't really view it as a permanent fixture. Just seemed like the forum was being inundated with DXM questions [of the stupid, "how much cough syrup should I drink" variety, not the thought-provoking "I rode a train inside my head and met God. He's a frog" sort]. So I made the official thread. For a short time there, I was personally calculating doses for the kiddies too dense to figure it out themselves. Such is my stance on harm reduction.

I, for one, would support abolishing the DXM thread. I'd like to see how things would look if it were gone.

Also, I've got this righteous nod going. Fuck yeah.

so by the sounds of it some sort of all encompassing guides with help of the general populace pointing people in the right direction is in? where as are we ready to finally phase the DXM thread out? [i'd say we keep the drug testing one ATM].

i think i'm getting a general idea of what an FAQ would encompass, if you have a good question might as well inject it in here now [rather than being a kidiot like numnuts ahead of me]. also meta, thoughts on finally killing the official dxm thread? two cents required..

Now I may have a completely different understanding of BLTC then you do, but from my experience here (which is limited), there are only a couple good threads here that actually develop into real worthwhile discussions( Such as your thread of opiate potentiation, N0 WArning's, Darkus LSD, etcc..). Those are just an example of real threads that develop into real, intelligent discussions. Most of the threads here start with shitty answers, get answered correctly, and either quickly develop into complete nonsense or just a flame fest between two fucktards who have no idea what there talking about.

I have not seen, nor can I really imagine intelligent discussion about DXM. I have no bias against the drug, I just dont see what could be really talked about it in detail, except of course experiences. And since generally the age group that uses DXM arent exactly the most intelligent folk (This is a generalization, so dont get offended), a good thread to me seems like a big short coming.

BLTC's decline from my viewpoint is from a lack of quality posting from a short coming of knowledgable posters, fucking idiot kids who think they know everything about drugs because they popped a vicodin and from trolls who think that marijuana is the key to the Akashic records; Official threads are not the downfall of BLTC

My vision of BLTC has always been to ask a question, get a CORRECT answer, and be on your merry way, except for those discussions that carry real meaning and can be taken on for numerous pages ( which coicidently happen to be the ones that you learn most from). I would just hate to see the whole front page of BLTC littered with garbage from 13 year old kids talking about CCC's and robotrippin while there mommy is home.

You do however have many valid points, it's up to the mods in the end though

Just thought of something:

We should aggressively ban anyone who seeks or supplies advice on how to scam doctors for meds.

I think there is a consensus among the mods and most respected posters that scamming doctors is immoral because it hurts thousands of people who legitimately need help. And most of those threads just go down in flames anyway.

Hey, glad to see that there's some support in regards to my idea (FINALLY!). Didn't remember you had created it, Theta.

Hell, if we get rid of it and it becomes a problem, it wouldn't be that hard to bring it back. Thats how you fix things that are broken; you try something you think might work. If it doesn't, you try something else. If it does, you win and lets play the next game!

Street Pharmacist: I wasn't trying to claim that this was the overriding issue facing BLTC these days, or a change that would suddenly and massively improve the quality of the forum. I just think the thing is stupid, and always have, since the day it was created. And fuck, if we get even one really good discussion started because it dies, isnt it worth it?

Punk Rocker: Sure, we might have a lot of the common answers in there, but so do a bunch of other sites out there (erowid, dextroverse, etc). It's about as effective to tell people to research as it is to have that thing taking up space.

Aces and Eights: Screw that noise, it's not all that common of an occurence, and we have moderators for the purpose of eliminating such threads. We need a more liberal approach for the most part. I'd rather see a few intelligent answers to a pointless or immoral question than see a bunch of hey-lets-jump-on-the-bandwagon flames following that same stupid question.

BLTC doesn't seem to need another moderator, per se, but it's really a question of who the moderator would be. What would they bring to the table?

There is a thread about scamming doctors like 2-3 times a week. One was just created since i made that post.

And the mods dont lock the threads. Thats why I'm proposing we make them against the rules.

And what we would like to see is, in this case, irrelevant. What is relevant is what we do see. All of the threads go down in flames eventually.

So we might as well ban them since they're usually the intellectual equivalent of DXM threads, way too common, useless, and contribute to a major moral problem in the drug community.

No, he's right. Whenever I see one of those threads I lock them. Because it does make it harder for those who really need the meds.

Now while we probably could use the Criminal activity infraction for it, I really don't think that is needed. A simple lock will get that message across. Or so has been my experience.

And ok it is settled. We do not need another mod.

But more importantly, Metaphysicist, have you changed your outlook on the DXM thread yet?

I meant if we're going by morals, that would be the majority of this forum down the gutter. i agree with you though, making shit up out of nothing and scamming the doctors is a pretty dick move.

we need a subxone/subutex/buprenorphine faq. a faq on common recreational pills with a description, effects.common prices, formulations, pill imprint codes, etc.

A faq explaining that ectasy imprints do not matter and posting the imprint and pill color will not make the specific pill identifiable. useful inks could be included like the ectrasy data sites.
