I love taking shrooms every once in a while, but the thing is that they run me 40 for an eighth. Because of this I have decided that I should grow my own in a lockable trunk under my bed in my dorm room.

My question is how would I manage the temperature in the trunk during the fruiting phase? could I just sit the cakes on a heating pad?

also I can still eat the aborts right? how potent are they in relation to the normal shrooms?

How can I keep the trunk sterile?

how long will the spores in the syringe keep if I only partially use it?

Grow bags and tungsten homes. Way easier than tanks and cakes n shit. And i believe a bigger yeild. But, i've never grown shrooms, im e-gurgitating what i've read.

I was planning on doing this one year when my roommate moved out second semester.

Never went through with it but if you're sure it won't be found, go for it. My problems was my damn RA's would do "health and safety inspections" periodically.

Don't do it, wait til you're off campus. Then it will be a lot easier and you can grow a lot more, risking that in a dorm just isn't worth it.

all you need is a liquid culture solution and a grow bag with a self-healing injection site.

make the liquid culture, wait for white fluffy mycelium to appear, shake that shit up and suck up into a syringe (30ml = preferred) than inject into a 3lb grow bag, and put it under some blankets in a closet.

wait a few weeks till fully covered and fruit in-vitro, cut open the bag and harvest when they're ready.

People seriously overestimate how big a mushroom grow is. Just imagine how many jars you could fit into just a shoebox for example. Get a lockable footlocker, and a small light powered by a six volt battery for fruiting.
If you're serious about using a footlocker, wrap the sides of the jar in paper or tape for fruiting, and lay them open with the opening facing the light inside a footlocker.

So maybe you won't be able to do big fruiting, it's just for you, right? Heck, you could just order sterilized substrate jars and syringes, sterilize the needle with a lighter and get away with it.

I concur. During my first grow I sterilized with a lighter and rubbing alcohol - I got one contam out of 15 jars, which really isn't bad. I also used a similar set-up.

And I was living with my parents. It worked surprisingly well.

If you have your own room, and a bit of privacy you should be fine. It's not like you're growing pot.

Yeah, I wouldn't think growing shrooms would be too risky in a dorm since, unlike pot, they need moist, dark places to grow.

I know several people who've done it at my uni. Not in the first year (when we were on campus) mind, but I never noticed that they were growing them until they said 'anyone fancy a trip?'

Isn't it like an automatic felony in most states to grow shrooms? The only problem I can see with it would be posting about it on the internet... I think this guy's asshole is gonna be really sore.

just weigh out the two out, shrooms or your education. if you get caught, you're going to be a blue collar laborer. if you've never done hard, mindless labor, i'd try that shit out before you take a risk like that.

i mean, you just have to take into consideration. you have another 50ish years on this planet, i'm sure it's in your best interests to make it as comfortable as possible.

You could also take into consideration the fact that your only young for so long. As they've said, it's not like your growing pot and if you exert a little bit of common sense then there shouldn't be a reason why you wouldn't be able to grow them in a place where you have relative privacy. If your suitcase has a combination lock on it or you buy one for it, then that privacy from anybody who happens to be in your room but not from RAs.

If you get the feeling that somebody is on to you, don't take chances and either destroy the crop or stash it somewhere for a little while. Like you said, it's for personal use it's not like your dealing.

a college dorm isn't the most private of places. and i'm not talking about him getting arrested, i'm talking about never being able to go back to school. all i'm saying is it isn't worth the risk.

Besides, summer is in less than 5 months. If you get a growing plan down over the summer it will be easier to implement in a dorm because you already know what you're doing.

Not worth risking prison/expulsion to save a few bucks and because you couldn't wait 5 months.

Lockable trunk sounds like a good idea, you could fruit a load in there although make sure the wood isnt going to get too damp and rot. To maintain the temperature and humidity rather than a heat mat I would be more inclined to use a container of water and aquarium heater. Heat mats get a bit hot and if your cakes are sat directly on them it will probably dry them out. An aquarium heater in a container of water on the other hand will heat the water which will in turn act like a radiator and also maintain a certain level of humidity. Read up loads on shroomery before you get into it but its really a great way to get a good supply cheap as fuck shrooms and you can see a return within 2 months.

You will also need a little bit of light to trigger fruiting if they are in a sealed container... The smallest fluorescent light bulb (strip or CFL) will do. When I did it I got one of those little fluorescent strip lights you get over bathroom mirrors (11w I think) and that did the job perfectly.

Look around on shroomery and look at the best technique for you, the great thing about growing shrooms is it can be done in such a small unobtrusive space and it is stealthy as fuck!

As long as he doesnt tell ANYONE (including your closest friends) it will be fine, also keep other illegal activities that might lead back to your dorm in one way or another.
