Default Is meth really that awful?

Anyone know what the main differences are between meth and other amphetamines? Like, I take adderall kind of often, is it a similar effect to that? Would it increase your productivity like adderall does?

You always hear about how bad meth is, but it seems from other stuff I hear that it's not that meth is so horrible but that it's extremely easy to abuse. I mean, it can be prescribed by doctors, so it must have some use.

I know if I take adderall for too many days in a row, it wipes out my short-term memory and I keep losing my train of thought. Is meth like that?

I'm not planning on trying to score any meth in the near future or anything, I was just curious.

Default Re: Is meth really that awful?

I've smoked once per week from the past 2 and a half months now, and I will tell you my thoughts on it.

First let me start by saying this board hates meth the most, even ten fold over heroin. I will also say if you try it, you will surely see the potential for addiction. As the effectiveness and "speedyness" of it compared to Adderall, yes it is as effective if not much more. It also comes with an instant effect (well about 10 seconds), which is a pretty cool feeling.
On top of the speedy factor, meth is pretty euphoric. When you do it, you feel very happy and lovey dovey. You are much more content to do anything you normally wouldn't do. When you combine this with how speedy / awake you are- you will understand why almost everyone cleans when when they are high. It is truly one of the "perfect drugs", which is why it is so addictive.

When you mix the negative effects of it plus the hard core addiction is when you see the crazy tweaker aspect of it, which is said to be one of the worst. If you don't do it that often, hopefully less than once a week, it's not as bad as people say it is. It is when you are addicted, which let me remind you how addictive it is, is when it is a problem.

Compared to adderall..It's like hydrocodone (maybe oxy) to heroin. I haven't smoke in 3 weeks now, and plan to put it off for at least a month and a half just to avoid becoming addicted. I have a large about of self control, so we'll see how it goes.

I disagree with this guy.
However, every time I have done it has been with my long term girlfriend, in a great setting under ideal circumstances.

Was it Dave Chappelle who called meth "crack for crackers"?

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, adderall isn't euphoric at all. If I feel like shit and take some of that, I'm still miserable, just with a lot more energy. Easily frustrated and distraught, I guess is how I would describe it.

I'd try meth before heroin or crack, but probably not smoked. That seems like it'd be too easy to abuse. The main reason I'm sort of interested is that I have bipolar disorder. I've tried about 6 different legitimate drugs for it and nothing really works. The reason this sucks is that it happens all the time where I plan some fun event and I'm looking forward to it for a long time and then bam, depressive episode right before I'm supposed to go. Now if I can't get a legit medication that works, I'd settle for a drug that'd bring me out of that depression temporarily if I really need it, if it still lets me function.

I'm not easily addicted to stuff. I smoked cigarettes for a while and never got hooked. Weed I can take or leave. I've quit a whole bunch of antidepressants cold turkey, including the ones they tell you absolutely not to because it can be unbearable. But yeah, I'm really good at coping with feeling like shit. And if I can't, I can always get stoned and watch TV.

But I don't think I'll try meth, at least not soon. There's at least two more legit medications to try first. Plus even my druggie friends are above having anything to do with meth so I wouldn't know where to get any. :p

Meth isn't prescribed by doctors, you dolt. Amphetamines can be, yeah, but not the meth that you get from a seedy shack in central Missouri.

The reason meth is so terrible and people rant about it is because of the addiction factor, and also because the ingredients are pretty questionable. It fucks your teeth and skin up and makes you go insane after you use it for long periods of time. I have a feeling you really don't know all that much about meth at all, so my advice to you is stay the fuck away from it.

I was a tweeker for a pre-ty large chunk of my adolescence, and it really isn't the best thing in the world to get involved in.

ever heard of desoxyn? and he wasn't talking about getting it from a doctor...

and meth does not directly fuck up your teeth and skin, it's lifestyle and skin picking that does that.

Ever heard of desoxyn? That's methamphetamine hydrochloride, the exact same shit you'd get from a seedy shack in missouri, but without as many impurities. And I'm sure there's varying qualities of street meth out there.

Meth doesn't actually fuck up your teeth, it lowers saliva production. In response, a lot of people drink more fluids to make up for the lack of saliva. If those fluids happen to be sugary soft drinks, that's what ruins teeth. In high doses, it can cause people to itch for no apparent reason, and all the scratching fucks up the skin.

Now I'm 100% sure that using the stuff continuously over a long period of time will seriously fuck you up. But I'm sure moderation is possible.

Though lifestyle does play a big part in it, the reason meth causes such problems with teeth and mouth is because of the pyrolytic byproducts from smoking it.

Yeech... no way would I ever smoke meth, it just seems a recipe for disaster. Orally would be safest I think, that way your digestive system can take care of the impurities, and there would be significantly less addiction potential since there wouldn't be that rush.

Not only lifestyle or the impurities but meth is also a vaso constrictor which on long binges kills off gums by not allowing enough blood to them

The difference in the most common route of administration is the main reason for the the common misconception that by nature meth is more addictive. If you converted amphetamine into freebase form and smoked it like meth it would be basically the same thing, only less potent by weight. There's also the fact that meth's higher potency also makes it easier to take much higher doses which also increases the potential for addiction, but the biggest difference is route of administration.

Absolutely, Its not like amphetamines really, I dont think so anyways, Way more hardcore, I've taken 12 25 mg adderalls and got really fucked up, I didnt think that you could be more sped up, until I smoked crank, god damn. If you do it, only do it maybe once every couple weeks, Its not even worth taking the chance getting addicted, My uncles been doing it for about 15 years now, he can't sit still even when hes off it, he does this wierd thing with pop cans when hes holding them, just take it easy if you try it. and From what I've seen people that smoke it get addicted than people who hoot it, just something to think about

Hard to say - I'm not trying to be a smart ass with this comment - but the limit with any drug is always what you think you can safely handle (without any risks) in extreme moderation - just to avoid addiction.

Some people can use it every week and never get addicted - some people that system just won't work and they'll be sunk.

It's all a matter of who you are/what your personality is.

You need to use the drug - you can't let the drug use you. (This applies to any 'addictive' substance. Heroin, cocaine, meth etc, etc.)

Seems like it'd also depend on the dosage too. The elimination half life for meth isn't too long, so it'd be virtually absent from your system after a few days. Seems like once a week would be a safe limit.

Both of those are generalizations.

And - kinda shallows ones at that.

Because, obviously - being spoiled has EVERYTHING to do with why someone is a junkie. If that were the case, 70 fucking percent of American yuppies WOULD be junkies.

But...oh...wait...that's right.

No - but you insinuated that if you're middle class/upper class and a junkie - you're most likely spoiled.

Completely untrue.

Seriously - Why would someone with the most opportunity and successful influences turn to hard drugs? - you're assumption? Because they're spoiled.

You claim to speak from personal experience - if YOU were spoiled - and you feel that's YOUR reason for becoming a junkie - okay - to each his own. But, what applies to you most certainly does not apply to everyone - or even the majority.

When it comes to drug addiction - EVERYONE is different. It doesn't matter if you have too much or too little - it might have to do with how you deal with things (or don't deal with things), depression/mental health, social pressures, work pressures, peer pressure, curiosity - ANYTHING. And, if you're truly speaking from experience - you should know that.

I'm not saying your assumption itself is wrong - but to apply it to everyone (or even the majority) is completely shallow.

And - seriously? Did you just call me a dummy? Did you see me call you names? If, I may repeat - what gives?

ok jeez i'm sorry-i was wrong for calling you a dummy. though it is sort of benign when compared to a stuttering dumb fuck or whatever the hell i was called. i don't pay attention to sn's really and as far as i was concerned the side countering my argument was unnecessarily hostile first. we're both wrong, you're right about that. on one hand i am speaking from an ignorant perspective and on the other hand you can't actually say whether i'm right or wrong because like you said it is a multidimensional subject and without a proper study we're all just talking out of our asses. BUT you can't argue with; meth really is that awful. which is what i was attacked over in the first place. our little argument was just a tangent from the actual topic.

ok jeez i'm sorry-i was wrong for calling you a dummy. though it is sort of benign when compared to a stuttering dumb fuck or whatever the hell i was called. i don't pay attention to sn's really and as far as i was concerned the side countering my argument was unnecessarily hostile first. we're both wrong, you're right about that. on one hand i am speaking from an ignorant perspective and on the other hand you can't actually say whether i'm right or wrong because like you said it is a multidimensional subject and without a proper study we're all just talking out of our asses. BUT you can't argue that meth really is that awful.

Shit - man. I was never hostile towards you. I never called you names. And, just because someone disagrees with you - regardless of with what - you lump them all into the same category!? The category with ME!?!

Dehumanizing I say! You've stripped me of my dignity! ;)

No, neither of us are right - but we can't apply stereotypes and generalizations - they're often wrong. And, like we both agree - it's a multidimensional subject - so many, many factors are included (not just the ones I listed, I was just rattling some off)

I'm not arguing that meth is okay - and I'm certainly not saying it's bad - my stance as far as that goes is (I think I may have said this in a previous post, if I did, my apologies!) :

It's okay to use ANY drug - as long as that drug does not begin to use you (ex. dictate your behavior/get out of control/addiction etc, etc)

EDIT : For the record, that was not me who called you a stuttering dumb fuck (or anything along those lines)

Hell, I shot up a dilaudid today and went Christmas shopping with my mom, bought my family Christmas presents, washed her car, and cooked dinner from scratch. Does that sound like I'm spoiled?

Don't judge someone just because they decide to shoot opiates. It's the best way to deal with my physical pain that my doctor won't help me with. Right now I'm on suboxone and it doesn't do SHIT for my pain a few hours after I take it. Oh yeah, my parents don't pay for my suboxone either, I do. I've been supplementing with other opioids because the analgesic effects still go through the suboxone even though the euphoria doesn't.

I bet you're one of those kids who read all the erowid reports about DMT and based all your assumptions off that. I've taken my fair share of hallucinogens, and I didn't like being unattached from reality. I prefer to live my life opiated so I can be physically comfortable and seem "normal".

I have a large about of self control, so we'll see how it goes.

don't fucking use meth once a week and expect to never get addicted, meth is incredibly fucking powerful and is not to be fucked with. I only did it a few times and its been more hen 5 months and i still drool thinking about it.

im really interested in meth i hear it is a really buetiful drug if used responsibly. using methamphetamine often drains the body and mind, taking valuable amino acids from the brain, it doesnt destroy the dopamine system it just drains it, it will regenerate and if you feel really unsafe multivitamines and l-phenalanine, mdma tax's the same acids meth does so really dont take to much to often and be healthy and happy.

true story-

my dad's best friend was a truck driver. he wasn't home very many days out of the month and had a stay at home wife in the boonies just across the boarder in illinois. (a little background, missouri is the highest producer of meth in the world). on the outside they had a quaint marriage and 3 children.

apparently after he picked up more shifts and was gone a little less, her drinking habit no longer satisfied her hunger and decided to try meth. it instantly hooked her in and she began using it all day every day. she was a stay at home mom so his income was what she used to support her habit.

he made about 35k a year busting his all day in and day out and had nothing to show for it because of her nasty habit. he didn't really have a good idea of what the habit was at first because of how often he was gone. once he got a grasp of how bad it really was he started trying to give her help and started cutting her money supply off.

well one day he comes home, she is hiding behind the door completely spun out no sleep for days, the kids were at school and he was excited to have some alone time with his wife. as soon as he walks in she puts a gun to his head and demands more money. apparently she had fucking CLEARED his bank account without him knowing and was out of meth ready for her next fix.

this was your average couple you invite over for dinner, that when they leave you are glad they came and you knew they loved eachother and you knew they were good parents. just picture perfect mother father, husband wife. for them to even have a heated argument was something we couldn't fathom, they were just such a nice couple and so loving of one another.

well she keeps threatening him demanding money for fix this and that with the shotgun to his head. she is getting to the point where she is starting to make him feel like his life is about to end so he makes a quick move and disarms her of the shotgun.

now he has the gun in his hands and in her tweaked out rage enters the kitchen grabs a knife and begins cornering him. she threatened his life that instant and he pulled the trigger, spraying her god damn brains all over their living room wall.

hes now freaking out, lying beside his dead wife of 15 years, contemplating what comes next. he writes a lengthy letter explaining the situation at hand then gives himself the same fate she suffered.

a few hours later the kids come home to the god awful stench, open the door and there lies mommy and daddy with their heads dismembered and their brainmatter and blood splattered from wall to wall. a fucking 9 year old, 12 year old and 16 year old had to gaze upon that grizzly scene before calling police.

can you imagine being 16 and having to explain to your younger siblings what the fuck is going on? i was friends with their son, since that day i havent seen him but i know he is never going to be the same.

that is my meth story and thats why i wont touch the shit.

Hmm. Opium

OK, I was on holiday in Asia & decided to stay there for 3 weeks.

After about 3 days I hired a local guy, about early 20's to help me around, he spoke pretty good English & seemed to know all the locals & how to do things that I couldn't get across to them with my bad translations.

I went on a few Touristy trips & saw a lot of the local areas, mountains, lakes etc etc.
I had heard there is a bit of Opium around & allways wanted to try it out to see what its like.
The guide was not really happy that I asked about it, but was familiar with it & it was pretty obvious to me he knew enough to know the right people etc.

I asked a few times over the second week but he always changed the subject or came up with great deals' on things to do instead.

By the start of the thrid week I was asking a few times a day. "Could he get just a little lump so I could try in my own room? I'm not going to take it home. Just a little bit so I can say that I have done it" etc etc.

The third day before I lwas due to leave he gave in & said he would takee me to a 'Opium den' tomorrow.
I couldn't wait.
So the morning comes & hes organised a ride on a small jeep for me & some produce he was selling where we were due to go to.
We travelled for about 3 hours & stopped at a little town I had noticed on another of our trips.
The driver turns left & we follow a dirt road for a short time & we stop in a little town.
We get out & walk for a while, he had to see someone first.
After that we follow a twisting street around & duck under a cloth wall of one of the shacks, a bit later we go past some guy & the guide says something to him & lets us past with a bit of a scow at me.
Theres a long dark hallway with dirty shitty smell to it, urine mixed with chickenshit mixed with a sewer smell, a odd burnt suger smell.
He knocks on one of the doors, its opens & he shuffles in & I had to duck to fit thru the door.
Its real dark inside & he says something to a small girl as my eyes adjust.
I can see a bit more now & can make out 'slots' in the walls, about 6 foot long, stacked 3 high & four long on each side. On the end of the room theres 2 slots, 3 high.
Theres people lying down in each slot.

At this point the girls gone & I make out 2 tramping packs in a corner.
Our NewZealand flag is very similar to the Austrailan flag & I notice the general shape of it on the back of the tramping pack.
The girls came back now with something & I have figured the flags a Aussie one.

I ask the guide "Whats the story with the Aussie pair?"

He says"They get the food & Opium & their toilet taken care of by the girl for -NZ$20 a week. They came here about 9 month ago"

I turned & pushed the door open & pulled the guide outside & we left.

Swap 'Meth' for 'Opium' but include 'Forced anal sex.'

i'm not understanding the correlation here of why taking DMT would make you not want to take methamphetamine. because i'm so sure 0% of people who have done mushrooms or dmt has never done meth after that experience

I've used mushrooms - then heroin.

Hell - I've eaten 2 hits of a acid and had my buddy shoot me with dope while I was peaking.

A bizarre - interesting experience that turned out to be.

obviously, alot if not most of the people that use shrooms, lsd, dmt, etc... use it for fun because of their drug seeking behavior..after using shrooms or whatever how would this drug seeking behavior just diminsh rendering the person not wanting to do heroin, meth, coke, whatever? it wouldn't...btw it doesn't seem like theres any ex/tweakers in here that have actually given any valuable input so far other than "omgz i read teh free vybe and it seys teh methamfetameen is the wurse drugzorzz ever".

In your fist post IIRC, you pretty much stated that anything except weed n' shrooms is bad. I did take that completely out of context, forgive me I don't feel like going back to look at exactly what you said. When did I ever say that smoking concentrated chems WAS natural? Weed doesn't qualify as concentrated chemicals.

And also, this isn't about what I said, it's about what you said.

Just understand that you are no better than anyone else on this message board just because other people use meth and other "hard" drugs. I too have seen alot of bad shit happen to people, people thagt were in my immediate family when methamphetamine was the catalyst. I have used meth numerous times responsibly though. It is not the substances fault that the user cannot control themselves while they are on the drug.

Well, for one thing meth is ALOT easier to come by than dmt, or lsd for that matter. If people had a steady access to DMT like meth, then I think alot of shit in this world would be different.

i'm sorry to have come off that way. i didn't mean to impose the idea that i'm better than anyone. i'm probably smarter and can mentally out perform many meth addicts but that doesn't mean i think i'm better than them. we're all stupid, and i'm proud to admit that.

no, dmt is not hard to come by if you're a seeker. with a little effort a the price of a ball or a fancy bottle of booze you can have more dmt that you'll ever know what to do with. a shaman once said that we [westerners] are not affraid of drugs, there is a drug store on every corner. we're afraid of changing our minds. if one wants to peek at what is beyond, one will. if not then they go about their happy ignorant way. i think the majority acts like the latter. also the west's culture does not preach enlightenment, that wouldn't be good for industry. we're taught to work and to indulge in that fast reward that feels oh so good but rots us and keeps the blind fold over our eyes. i know drug users, very few of them are interested in breaking through.

This. Now everyone stfu and stop flaming. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

i saw a guy i knew back in highschool. he was a mad tweaker at the time. he was so messed up. he could pull (only what i could describe as) shards out of the skin on his face, and just smoke them to get high again. after seeing that i vowed to never touch meth.

a close buddy of mine tried it once, he was up long enough to watch all 6 episodes of the star wars saga, and i know that is nothing i would ever want to do

lol wut?

true story-

......

that is my meth story and thats why i wont touch the shit.

That story is too picture perfect "anti-meth" that I have trouble believing it. I'm calling propaganda on that shit.

People seem to be extra-gullible and naive when it comes to anti-meth propaganda. There are even druggies that take 200+ pills of E then say meth is the only drug the government tells the truth about. If they lied about everything else why would they tell the truth about meth?

That is why they say: "Not even once!" Because as soon as you take your first hit you realize it's all bullshit and will never be fooled by them again. Only the ignorant simpletons that pretentiously spew propaganda turn into total fuck-ups when they do meth.

All you idiots that think meth is inherently evil or necessarily bad for you can go suck off a dog in Sweden where it's legal!
