Create robots and use them as slaves?
This is a serious post, that is why it is in this forum. If it weren't I would simply post it in Spurious Generalities or something.
I would like to explore the possibility of further developing robotic and automated technology to potentially replace the majority of the workforce. I think that it would be cheaper in the long run for companies to billions of dollars together (or the federal government for that matter) to invest in the R&D of highly advanced robotics and AI. Rather than paying for wages, benefits, and worrying about civil rights issues, companies could simply pay for the initial R&D, the robot maintenance, and the cost of powering them.
This sounds like a lot to have to develope but if we teamed with Japan to create this, the world could see a mass labor force that doesn't need the needs of humans, doesn't question authority, doesn't take breaks, and won't make excuses.
For the millions of people that would be jobless, the government should just make the economy a socialist one where the capital generated from the labor of the robots is evenly split between the people. Of course there would still be people to work on the robots and do things related for the robots, but ultimately this would be a slave labor force AND it is ethical.
What do you think about this?
PS: the robots will not revolt.

If you can write a computer simulation that can provide an accurate representation of the job to be done, then write an AI to perform said job, then by jobe, go for it!

The robots might not revolt, but what about the people who just lost their jobs?

Then the "Robot Revolt" would be people rioting ove losing their jobs to machines.

Sounds like a lot of work. But I guess some people will go to great lengths to be lazy.

Re: Create robots and use them as slaves?
This was on TV at a friend's house last night - a show on the Discovery channel called Next World - they were talking about robot helpers and nanotechnology, showing walls that change into windows, and digital cameras that can be placed directly on the eyeball like a contact lens. I wasnt paying too close attention at the time but google it. NO DOUBT there will be a rerun.

Would you be asking the same rhetorical question if you were in fact one of the rich?
