Thumbs up The Material Bartering Thread

TRADE SOME SHIT! New shit is always fun!

So I figured most of us DIYers are the kind of people who collect random things to use for future projects, but as I'm sure you're all aware of, things often sit around unused or you can't use them for some reason, but they're still good pieces of whatever that could be useful. In order to make all of these things useful, I figured we could set up a bartering system.

Mailing stuff doesn't cost too much, as long as it's reasonably small, so if we all post what things we'd be willing to part with that might be useful to other people, we could get rid of some junk and get some useful stuff for relatively little money. This system is also nice because we don't have to deal with money and stuff like paypal, which only people over 18 can access. As far as I know, anyone can buy stamps or mail a package.

For trading I figured we could base fair trades on the value of the item vs. the shipping costs, and as long as it's roughly equal to what you're trading for [well as long as both parties are cool with it] we'll all be happy.

In your post please list your location, a description of the item, a pic if possible, and the approximate weight and dimensions. Here's a shipping cost calculator from UPS.
https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request?...&WT.svl=SubNav

I'm sure there will be retards that try to send empty boxes and such, so avoid trading with people you don't see as regular posters here or anyone who doesn't type in english.

These will be shipping from Massachusetts-

List of my stuff on the block
-Dell Computer Subwoofer Model A525 Don't know if it works, seems fine. speaker output is a 9-pin trapazoidial plug like in the back of a comp, only the power wire is included.
http://www.wholesalesonly.com/store/images/T/a525.jpg
exactly like that without the other two speakers. bout 8" cube, maybe 5 lbs.
-2 Maglite tubes, roughly 1.25" diameter and maybe 12-16" long. Metallic blue, maybe a pound a piece. I'll get more specific on measurements if anyones very interested.
-10 paint mixing motors Move roughly 80 rpm with lots of torque, standard plug-would be great for a homemade ball mill if there are any chemists here. 3" cubed, maybe 1lb
-4 Surround sound speakers. No woofer to match them, but I'm sure they work or it's a ridiculously simple problem with one. Brand is Klipsch/Lucasfilm THX, I think they're fairly high quality. Single speaker would fit in a 6"X6"X10" box
http://www.mercadolibre.com.mx/jm/img?s=MLM&f=20058234_3524.jpg&v=P
Looks like those guys, cept no woofer.
Site with more pics
-Shopsmith power tools I have a Bandsaw, belt sander, and a planer [there might be one more thing too] that seem to be part of a set with a universal motor. However, I don't have a universal motor to hook them up to, but they could be rigged to run if someone is determined and able enough. They're all in great condition. Shipping will probably be high [maybe $100, depending on location] because they weigh a lot, so unless someone has a really awesome trade, they could just pay me via check in the mail for shipping. Pics if anybody wants em. Maybe pics?:confusion:
-Almost anything from a hardware store Ask. Dremel bits are prime sauce.

There is no guarantee you'll get what you think you will, you'll have to trust your judgment on who to barter with. Don't be stupid, avoid vague postings/untrustworthy users. However, there are a lot of honest posters here looking to trade good shit, and fantastical deals to be had, so good luck hunting!

I have about 20 Computers all in the P4 2Ghz range with 512 MB of RAM and a 20 or 40GB HDD. No monitors or other accessories tho. Would consider trading these for any tools (especially a nice soldering gun, small work tools, nice dremel, angle grinder, etc). You'd have to take responsibility for the shipping on most trades though. Ships from Oklahoma City.

I work at a hardware store owned by a jackass so I steal lots of tools and stuff, and I would definitely be interested in a comp RDP. I'm stuck on a mac but I'd love to get my hands on a semi decent windows for surfing the web and such, my mac isn't so good. If you have any laptops that can run '98 I'd go for that to, I want to fire up my command and conquer collection again. Speaking of which, I have a dell inspiron 3800 with two batteries but no charger [it's around here somewhere...] you can have if you want. I think it might have XP, but when I tried getting on it when I got it, there was a personal account thing I couldn't get into cause I don't know how to hack the password.
I can get you a Weller soldering iron, I think the biggest is a 35 watt, I'll let you know tomorrow. Let me know about any other little tools/stuff, as I can get that all whenever as long as we carry it.
Also, would you like the 160gb sata drive?

Boy do I have lots of shit to bater

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q104/midnightrider384/IMG_0981.jpg

All of that is available. The ipods are in good condition, except the video, which doesn't have a screen. It's a good portable hard drive.

The keyboard has a power supply that works with it, the guitar has an amp, it's in good conditon and so is the amp. They both work flawlessly.

You can't see it in the picture but under he mobos there is a 40gb ipod 3rd gen. Works perfectly. There's also the camera that I took this with that I'm looking to get rid of, it's a Canon Powershot SD750.

The laptop is a Presario v3000, it's got a good battery but a god damn shitty Chinese power adapter fried the PSU. If you're computer inclined this is an easy fix. Probably about 110 to fix it, and the laptop is worth about 350 itself. No hard drive is included since I don't have any power to wipe my data from it with.

Also got these:

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q104/midnightrider384/IMG_0982.jpg

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q104/midnightrider384/IMG_0983.jpg

Camcorder works flawlessly, I'll even include the software that is pretty much impossible to find (trust me, I've tried) and the radio works, the light works, and the fan works. Note that the stack of CD's is not up for barter.

Also willing to let go of the CRT monitor that is in the backround of the picture of the camcorder. I'm not sure of the mesurements, but I use it as my second monitor, 1280x1024 and it has good colors.

I also have an old Verizon Razr with an activated RFID tag in it. It's good if you're a shoplifter. It beeps everywhere there is an RFID tower, even going in.

I'm willing to trade any of this stuff. I do, however, need a good bench grinder and angle grinder (Hint hint )

Thumbs up Re: The Material Bartering Thread

Midnight rider, I'll trade for your camcorder, camera, and the ipod shuffle. Once again I can get whatever is reasonably take-able from my hardware store, if you want to make a ball mill I can give you a motor, and I actually just stumbled on a bunch of speakers, I'll put them in the original post. Let me know what you're looking for! Grinders are probably too big to snag, but if I come across one I'll let you know. I can get free discs though.

6spd dremel, the part that you tighten is worn out so you can't use the little square wrench or whatever they include but it works fine tightening with a pair of pliers. Ill include a hard case, some engraving bits/ cutters/ diamond bits and a diamond cutter.

2 12" insignia subs, 600 watts rms each, 1200 rms with both. In a kicker livin loud box with a tuned port.

HP photo printer, prints 4x6's good. Hooks up to a digital camera or memory cards can plug in. Not a full size printer.

I'll throw up some pics and some other stuff tonight.
