Default Why is alcohol legal

The age old question. Why is alcohol legal and other drugs illegal. I know the answer. It came to me in a few acid trips and even a DMT trip but I've known it all along from direct experience.

Alcohol is allowed because it disables you to do work. On alot of other drugs you can do loads of work mentally and physically but alcohol makes you physically and mentally incapacitated so you can't really do shit.

Society wants to keep you at the bottom of the shit bucket because the people pulling societies strings are the ones at the top and they want to keep it that way. Without poor people there would be no rich people, without people to do the shitty jobs the easy jobs wouldn't even exist.

Its as simple as that. Drugs like speed, MDMA, coke, crack, heroin, and even mushrooms allow you to do mass amounts of physical and mental work with ease and we all know if you do enough physical but mostly mental work that you'll climb the rungs of the ladder and keep climbing until you reach the highest platforms of society.

Thats the way it is. Our minds have enormous untapped potentials and drugs give us a little taste of these potentials and with the aid of them we can become superhuman (at least alot more than what society and conventional science leads us to believe is human). Drugs are one of the many keys to unlocking the untold potentials of our mind. These petty fools desperately try to prohibit the flow of drugs but they know thats a physical and mental impossibility.

I think its all our mission to spread each and every form of drug to each and every person on this planet. Make and spread drugs. Thats our mission as humans. ;)

Yea mushrooms I went a bit overboard there. I've tried doing construction work on shrooms and although I have alot of energy I just can't concentrate on anything. One day I had to paint some walls and although I did paint the walls I ended up painting doors, ceilings, water heaters, railings for stairs and I even painted concrete steps. Luckily the boss didn't give a fuck cuz all he had to do was paint over them. He was pissed off about the water heater though.

to kwerjack alcohol isn't only legal in America. Its legal in Europe and Europe has a tradition of taking datura, henbane, morning glory and a heap of other weird drugs but that doesn't make them legal. America isn't the beginning of civilization.

Yea there you go. Taking mescaline and psilocybin has culture preceeding alcohol by thousands of years but psychedelics make you think and thinking people excel. People who are running the show need stupid bastards to do the shit work for them. People who think know better and will look for the ladder and start climbing it rather than continuously be shit on by the scum that happen to be on higher platforms.

Why is a drug which makes people stupid and violent legal, but one which makes them think about everything and calms you down illegal? Why do people shoot other people? Why do we continue to shit all over the world which provides so much? Why isn't education a right?

Shit heads.

Lies.

Up until like... 4 months ago I NEVER DRANK ALCOHOL... I did drugs, but I always saw alcohol as the "lie" ya know...

But since I have started drinking occasionally I have come to see that I am more revolutionary. (I think more, about government, about sexism, about drugs... about anything, and I talk for hours about almost any subject) I can just lay out how I feel about just about anything... I am uninhibited and not nervous, I speak with composure and use body language and keep people involved in debates when I am slightly tipsy.

I have already had conversations with friends that en "we need to setup a tape recorder and tape us getting drunk"

I have said more about the world around me and sparked more thought in those around with alcohol MORE than any drug.

Drinking is way too widespread to tackle in comparison to most illegal/illicit drugs. It's part of society now, the way weed seems like it is going and the other drugs will follow in time.

What do you think is more harmful? Acting without thinking, or thinking without acting.. that's the difference between alcohol and weed, and to be completely honest I agree if only one of the 2 should be illegal it should be alcohol. but now that alcohol has been around for so long i can't see them suddenly starting a new prohibition.. I'm not even saying I think weed should be legal, I'm still undecided when it comes to that.. but alcohol is definately the greater causer of damage out of the two..

You can regulate a plant easily. Try regulating whole groups of food like fruits. It's the difference between night and day.

Alcohol is legal because it is engrained in our culture as people.
Marijuana isn't really a part of American culture, so when it was banned, people didn't really care.

My theory is that despite its obvious dangers alcohol has just been so socially acceptable for such a long time, along with the revenue it provides as a drink and associated activities and establishments. With as almost worldwide dependency on the drug in social situations and as a source of income prohibition would never happen and simply would just not work.

Marijuana isn't really a part of American culture ...

LoL.

It was responsible for about 80% of the economy and something like 2500 or 25000 different household products (that we've since replaced with petroleum derived synthetics).

It was once even illegal to live in America and not grow pot.

If not for pot, the American economy would have been less productive, and American culture as we know it today could have turned out completely different.

Alcohol is legal because the majority of society are shit heads, and their drug of choice reflects that. The War on Drugs reflects societies ignorance. If society was intelligent, then things would be different ... but then we wouldn't be killing each other, either.

says the man who pulls shit out of his ass as references to whatever the fuck kind of bullshit he usually says.

The reason alcohol is legal (as with tobacco) is that you actually have to cultivate the barley & hops (just like tobacco) and use machinery to make it, therefore it's easier to regulate than some kid who's growing a plant in his bedroom, selling on his own after curing it.

You can tax the fuck out of tobacco and not many people have the tools necessary to create their own alcohol (or the will/want to actually work and making their own), unlike marijuana, where you can just put seeds in a pot and grow your own personal stash without having to have a massive field.

Yes alcohol is the more harmful of the two but alcohol has been around for millennia. Plus in the states, racism was a major factor in marijuana being made illegal. Kinda like how opium was legal at the turn of the century but smoking opium (done my many chinese immigrants) was illegal.

80% of the economy? Youve got a pretty high opinion of marijuana dont you? Also I highly doubt that it was illegal to live in America and not grow marijuana. Thats just stupid for the simple reason that not everyone who came to america were farmers, and not all farmers grew marijuana.

From the way you talk about marijuana I wouldnt be surprised if you also believed that George Washington grew hemp because he was stoner, and not because it is a surprisingly strong material to make clothing, rope, etc.

Yes, 80% of the economy was dependent on marijuana crops. Yes, it has been illegal at times to live in America, and not have a marijuana crop.

Look it up: The Emperor Wears No Clothes (http://www.jackherer.com/chapters.html). You can find this information elsewhere, as well.

Yes, I do think pretty highly of it. Because there is reason to.

Edit - I was a bit off on the illegal-not-to-grow part ...

America's first marijuana law was enacted at Jamestown Colony, Virginia in 1619. It was a law "ordering" all farmers to grow Indian hempseed. There were several other "must grow" laws over the next 200 years (you could be jailed for not growing hemp during times of shortage in Virginia between 1763 and 1767), and during most of that time, hemp was legal tender (you could even pay your taxes with hemp -- try that today!) Hemp was such a critical crop for a number of purposes (including essential war requirements - rope, etc.) that the government went out of its way to encourage growth.

... it is a surprisingly strong material to make clothing, rope, etc.

Yes, it is an amazing resource, and was used in the production of over 25,000 products ranging from dynamite to cellophane. It would have been a more popular fiber then cotton if it had not been for the invention of the cotton gin about one or two hundred years earlier. Since then, cotton had become a preferred fiber (although of less quality), as it took many more man hours to work with hemp.

However, around 1938, new machinery was being brought about (see: decorticator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decorticator)) . It would revolutionize the hemp industry. It would replace cotton with hemp. It would make hemp such an amazing resource, that even petrochemical companies and people with money invested in forestry began to get worried ... the new capabilities of the hemp market were very threatening. Hemp was proclaimed as the soon to be Billion Dollar Crop, as can be seen in this 1938 Popular Mechanics article (http://www.jackherer.com/popmech.html).

Soon, due to extremly false propaganda, pot was made illegal. And the hemp market nearly died out entirely.

To say that while other drugs are not legal, like pot, alcohol should be simply because you believe it to be more ingrained into our culture is both ignorant and stupid.

When alcohol was used in europe before we settled in the united states. It purpose was not just to get everyone fucked up. People of all ages would have to drink alcohol because it was used as a water sanitizer.

Hemp was once essential to our society but the advent of polymers/plastics made it so we did not need hemp any more.

your an idiot.I agree. Alcohol is not what determines our status in society. It is where we are born(what part of town. who we are born to(what family) that keeps us where we are.
For example. Some one is born into an enclave. Enclaves generally support poor people. If you are born into a poor family you will have less chance of being able to get out of the neighborhood you were born into. The school near you will likely have less funding. You will have less chance of getting into a good school or even college at all.
Someone who is born into a wealthy family will probably live in a better area. Have better nutrition and health. Will receive a better education. Get into a good school and be able to go where ever they want to. while the poor are stuck where they are.

ya that's true as well. didn't mean to neglect the impact that circumstance has on life... i just used motivation and personality and stuff as a good contrast to alcohol.

and as for why various other drugs are illegal... they might help you do certain things better for certain periods of time, but overall, people do end up worse from using them. I'm not saying that all people who use drugs ends up going downhill with their life, but a lot do. maybe its that drugs are too good...

i don't know the actual statistics, but most people who drink alcohol keep it pretty reasonable. go to work/school, do ur shit, come home, eat dinner and have a couple beers, do whatever you do in the evening, and then go to bed. some ppl claim a few beers will releive a hangover, but generally speaking, if you get drunk, ur gona feel like shit in the morning (or whenever you wake up after passing out). hell, i feel like shit while drunk sometimes just cause alcohol can only feel so good before it just turns to wallowing throwing-up belligerent stupidity and oblivion. ya some people acheive a condition of true alcoholism where drinking in excess does make them feel even better, but they are a very small minority.
drugs are to easy to integrate into every aspect of your life. ya it'd be tight to be able to go to the walmart pharmacy and pick up your choice of opiates and amps and tranqs etc, but the majority of society doesn't want that availability, cause it does fuck people up, and its to easy to slip into, even for people who wouldn't otherwise do drugs. i'm supposed to be finishing homework right now thats due tomorrow, but i'm coming down from adderall so i'm fuckin irritated and don't want to, so i'm typing this post on totse instead. it's nice to have the pills available to me, but if i didn't, i'd just be used to doing my work without any drug, and i probably would have finished it a few days ago.

pt being: if an overwhelming majority of people in america wanted certain drugs to be OTC, it would eventually happen. drugs are harder to keep a handle on the use of than alcohol, and if ur gonna argue that and try to say its not true your a fuckin retard and need to take a step back and look at the big picture. people wreck cars and beat their families and all kinds of shit while drunk, but people like alcohol. they do and they always will and its not going outa style anytime soon.

^^ Agreed.

I'm 17 and don't personally know a single person that gets drunk every day. Hell, getting drunk twice in a week can be seen as quite excessive, and I only know a few handful of people that do that.

On the other hand, I know a lot of people (including myself) that smoke weed at least twice a week. Hell, I've spent the majority of the last few months stoned pretty much every day.

One of the problems with drugs is they are just too easy to get fucked on. If you go out drinking, it usually takes a couple of hours and a fair few beers before you get drunk. A joint or two of good weed will have you pretty damn high and only takes about 10 minutes.

People tend to confine drinking to certain situations, such as parties or social gatherings. Other than that, it is usually say a couple of beers with a meal, but not enough to get drunk. Drinking in the daytime is very uncommon. People don't limit themselves in that same way with weed. I don't know anyone who has tried to do homework while drunk, but almost everyone I know that smokes weed has done homework stoned at least once.

I think that people have a natural desire to get fucked up. Whilst alcohol is dumb in terms of it can cause people to get violent or make you fuck a fat bitch, it is a lesser evil than weed. And thats coming straight from a person who doesn't drink but smokes weed lol.

Default Re: Why is alcohol legal

it usually takes a couple of hours and a fair few beers before you get drunk. A joint or two of good weed will have you pretty damn high and only takes about 10 minutes.

Thats because beer is diluted liquor can get you drunk in 15 minutes if you wanted. If weed took a couple of blunts to get high and tasted horrid and was very harsh it wouldn't be as abused.Any other drug is the same, excess is alot worse for you than excess of alcohol.
