Default Google funds Photoshop-on-Linux work

http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/digital...2037989,00.htm

Google is funding codeweavers to make Photoshop CS and CS2 work better on linux

Needless to say I'm glad, but I'm wondering why on earth Google cares?

Google = 9 letters

Fully qualified name of both of Googles founders in roots of 9 = 38, 46, multiples of 17 and 23

1723 = birth year of Stephen Dowd

ergo

Google = illuminati

i don't think that photoshop is really the barrier that people claim it is. sure you hear alot of people saying 'i'd use linux if it had photoshop', and you know they are full of shit. photoshop is a good tool, but the people who use it are not usually the kind of people who will sit down and learn an entirely new OS. sure, im stereotyping, but photoshop is only a peice of software in a set, and it is never as simple as 'install linux, install photoshop and im set'. other applications like video editors and 3d studio are not usually direct ports, so there is a steep learning curve.

but GIMP is a good replacement for all but the extreme enthusiast, and there is fuck all chance they are going to change an OS after being totally dependent on photoshop for so many years (someone who uses once application religously isn't going to change OS's without a damn good reason).

it'll help, but its not the holy grail. alot of people say that they want photoshop on linux because it is what they read other people say. they see someone say 'linux is shit, no photoshop' and repeat it, even if they didn't even realise that photoshop isn't on linux.

a good move, id like to see many apps ported (although _NOT_ as binary blobs as most of them are, google should take note) this won't be the deal it is being reported as.

(just noticed it is not a port, just making it work better on wine. thats a bit shit)

Adobe should just push for Photoshop on Linux. Period.

If Adobe pushed Linux versions of all its apps, it'd bring a fair few people over. Remember, they have all Macromedia's apps.
