What is with this guy?
So, there's this kid I know that I liked and wanted to get with for a while, but he sort of told me that he only sees me as a friend. That's fine and I'm sort of over him, but now he's kind of making the effort to be friends and I'm not sure if it's worth it because of how strange he is. What I mean is that I'm not sure if he's a normal guy with quirky habits or if he has painfully low self-esteem and/or a variety of other problems and barely functions in the world for that reason.
Here's what so weird about him:
-He never makes eye contact and in fact will look at something else entirely while he speaks to me
-He frequently tells me that he doesn't care about what I'm saying or that he finds it uninteresting
-He whistles randomly or puts on headphones while we're talking
-He fidgets horribly and constantly
-He tells me what he doesn't like about me (as well as what he does like)
-He refuses to make the effort to break a silence in the conversation
-He acts arrogant and says he considers himself above everyone (but he said he was joking about that)
-He likes the Doors
He has a lot of confidence in his opinions on things and is always ready to challenge me. He's quite assertive in that way, but all the other shit he does is confusing. Maybe he just really really doesn't think much of me? I don't know, but I would rather try to figure him out on my own/with you guys' help than see him more and possibly get myself involved with a psycho
Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the other weird thing about him: he doesn't drink or smoke or use any drugs of any kind and he never has. He doesn't have a problem with it, he says, but he just doesn't choose to partake personally.

Re: What is with this guy?
Sounds like an opinionated guy with horrible self esteem. Trust me though, the eye contact thing can be worked on, I could never make eye contact with people, and I am fine now.
The Doors thing though.. Well. Good luck.

Re: What is with this guy?
He wants to be a psychedelic Jim Morrison eating liberty caps & you want to be his Cathy Smith banging him up with speed balls.
I wonder: will this work?

Hm... I really didn't intend the Doors thing to be the focus of this thread
I should add that he also listens to good music. He likes Television and the Stooges and other good things. Just also the Doors and Led Zepplin.

Re: What is with this guy?
Maybe he's treating her mean to keep her keen? Kinda seems like they could be walking together in a rainswept park & she'd fall off the trail. He'd keep on walking & end up in Starbucks and an hour later he look around kind of puzzled, "Oh yeah?!"
* Shrugs * "Huh?"

ABORT.
Why would you ever like this guy? He sounds like a whiny, arrogant prick.

Three fine reasons why you should let this uppety little cocksucker get on with his own shit and you get on with yours.
To be honest, you and I always had conflicting opinions back in the mists of time but even I wanted to read your thoughts on a subject because you are a very intelligent person. Tough and opinionated at times but aren't we all?
This dude sounds like he's full of himself and has no manners whatsoever. Even though there's probably a shrink somewhere who told him he has ADD or some shit, I'd be more inclined to say he's just an arrogant little trouser-stain and you'd be better off without him.

Well, he sounds awesome.
I really don't want to take the usually idiotic/close-minded leap to say 'further proof that women only like assholes' but I'm being kinda pushed to. Someone stop me here. :\

Re: What is with this guy?
Perhaps Geepee thinks it's easier to 'fix' someone else than to work on her own problems? Get her self a nice little 'fixer-upper' & he'll be just sssooooo grateful, that'll he'll always look up to her with puppy-dog eyes.
Now me? I'd only look up at her that way while she was on top of me. :p

Re: What is with this guy?
sounds like a highly funconting autism case. asberguers (i know i spelled that wrong) possibly. he may or may not be, but he is odviously very socially withdrawn.
heres the symptons that are a sign for autism.
1.) no or little eye contanct. will avoid eye contact if at all possible.
2.) figdeting or feeling uncomfortable when theirs nothing apparently wrong.
3.) socially with drawn. akward speech patters. does it ever seem like he is talkign AT you not with or to you?
4.) un interested in other people. (for example how he dosent like you?)
this fella odviously displays some of the signs of autism. if he is, he is most likely a very high funconting person. chances are if he is in touch with reality as you make him sound, he may even know that their is something wrong with him.

Re: What is with this guy?
I'm not gonna try and diagnose whatever syndromes this dude has, but I'd bet he has at least something.
Some people are just hard to be around, because of the way (and I mean this in the least judgemental way possible) they're fucked up, but that doesn't actually mean it isn't worth doing. He might be a fascinating and wonderful person behind all the tics and weirdness.
You have to admit, it's possible.

Re: What is with this guy?
He's not psycho, just low self-esteem in some regards, mainly socially, though he's probably quite intelligent and knows it and probably just doesn't really relate to many people or know how to function in "normal" social situations.
I think he thinks you're worth spending time with or he wouldn't bother with it, he's just very aware of what he's projecting and over analyzes himself. He probably doesn't open up to people very often or very much.
Probably a deep/interesting/whatever person if you want to expend the effort. I'd have to know more about you to give you an accurate opinion on that matter though.

What makes him so great? Well, he's quite intelligent and is a database when it comes to film and sports. He's also quite well-read and is interested in politics and world issues. We agree enough not to cause problems, but still have plenty to argue about, which keeps it fun and makes it clear that he has real opinions that he's capable of defending. While he's not especially nice in some regards, he is a gentleman and always opens doors (and the like) if given the chance, but is happy to let me open a door for him without rejecting the offer as some guys do. Other than the Doors and a couple other choice bands, he has very good taste in music and is capable of discussing it at length. The main thing I like about him though is that he is incredibly witty. He knows it, which is annoying, but it still counts for a lot. Almost everything he says makes me laugh. Most people force me to feign laughter.
I also like that he's a loner and has an easy time going against the crowd wholly unintentionally. Something about a general naivety when it comes to social practices is sort of endearing to me. Though I guess that's also where the problems come in. And he has a general cuteness about him which I used to adore.
Honestly I'm over him in a romantic sense, so the cuteness is no longer a thing, but the rest of it still applies. I like having intelligent and witty friends.

Y'know, sounds like me and this guy would get along pretty well.
Maybe you should give me his info OP, I think he'd probably happily trade me for you.
I mean, he can't sex me but once he realizes he ain't getting that from you either I don't believe it'd matter.
