What does "chemistry" mean to a woman?
What does a woman mean when she says there is or isn't "chemistry"? I always assumed it mean the woman had a lot or little in common with the male. However, now I'm starting to realize it means sexual/physical attraction.
Am I right?

Durrr...
Um, yes, you're right. Also counts compatibility as far as personalities/etc.

When you meet her and you throw horrible chemicals into her eyes, blinding her making her dependant on you?

When a woman says you two don't have "chemistry" she means you either aren't enough of a cocky asshole and/or don't have the 10" cock she was looking for.

Chemistry is a connection... I can't explain it. In very gay terms, its this feeling you get when you're with someone that you don't feel with anyone else... Almost like electricity, except not painful or bad. Fuck, I suck at being articulate. :(

This is the kind of bullshit that makes me confused with girls. Why the fuck can't you just say the truth: "chemistry is how physically attracted you are to a person" instead of giving this whole big confusing definition.
Chemistry is something you feel with Brad Pitt, it's impossible to have any chemistry with danny devito.

Because it's not just physical attraction. The definition is confusing because it's not something that can be put into words easily, if at all.
For example, I had amazing chemistry with the first guy that I was with... He wasn't that attractive, but he was nowhere near ugly. But there was some sort of connection there that I've never felt with anybody else, and I doubt that I will anytime soon.
I remember one time he came over to my house, and we were lying in my bed and he had his arm around me and it just felt so fucking perfect; I just wanted to stay like that forever. With the guy that I'm with now, I've never felt anything even remotely close to that. Sure, it's nice when we cuddle, but it can't compare.

....no.
It can make you more sexually attractive to her, but it doesn't define it. It's how you get along/mesh with the other person, it INCLUDES personality, physical, sexual, but none on their own.

Re: What does "chemistry" mean to a woman?
haha jesus christ, every fuckin thread ive got to bring evolutionary psychology to the table.
alright so youve seen the, "buy these pheramones and become irresistable to women" ads. if you've read magazines/browse the internet anywhere near a regular basis you've stumbled across one.
they dont work...but thats not to say that chemistry, or pheramones arent important.
everyone gives off pheramones, from their mouths, noses, armpits etc...every orafice that excretes gives off pheramones, even your urine. now as far as attraction goes, the pheramones being pumped out give out information as to what that persons genes are like. the biggest part for attraction are the immunities that one person may have in their genetic code.
now for attraction to occur, or "chemistry" your MHC's(which are the genetic-coded pheramones/sex pheramones) mesh the best with someone who has a different MHC. that way your potential kid(s) have the largest variety of immunities.
now thats over simplified, but im not going to make this into a paper.
All in all, im sure you can think of a person who maybe wasnt as talented as kissing, or wasnt a 10 on physical attraction, yet everytime you kissed that person or were around them, something just felt "right". its huge, it predicates soo much as far as relationships go, and acts as a large determinant for if you/someone else finds you attractive/ultimately if you have chemistry/that spark or not.
this is arguably the biggest reason the kiss was developed in a romantic sense. our noses contain the majority of the scent producing glands so when we kiss we breath harder, and almost always through the nose. so in a sense we're trading genetic information. thats why there are times for either sex, where you'll kiss someone and instantly you'll know you dont want to sleep with them.
and the reason the spray on pheramones dont work is because your natural pheramones conflict with the ones youve sprayed on, and that conflict negates it.

Re: What does "chemistry" mean to a woman?
Speaking of pheromones, whatever happened with that thread a few years back (like, 2 or 3, not that long) about the guy who was trying to make his own pheromone spray by collecting and mixing his urine and semen and spreading it on his face and hair?
Anyone remember that?

Evolutionary biology and the study of hormones, pheromones, and neurochemistry in general is incredibly shaky. There is little it can concretely explain, though there is a lot it can suggest and support.
You'd be a fool to suggest that there aren't a thousand different factors (well at least dozens), besides pheromones, that can lead to an interactive relationship characterized by chemistry (importantly, mood and social situation at the time of impression formation, and many other things).
That isn't to say that there is "someone for everyone," just that certain psycho-social elements interplay with biological functions in the such strong attraction.
P.s., buddy, it's pheromones.

B.S. , it is purely sexual and physical attraction. Guys who have "personality chemistry" with women are their best friend, while a guy who has sexual and physical chemistry with a woman is her lover but not exactly her friend. This is true from what I've seen and probably true for everyone else too.

And guys who have both are who women are ideally attracted to and end up with. If you don't get along on a personal level, there's no chance that she'll stay attracted to you or that anything will really come of it.

Oh I agree completely, the men who have the personality and good enough looks will take it all.
But see whenever people say personality is important they are being misleading. For both sexes it's true that you need a good matching personality to have any kind of long term relationship, but that doesn't mean you are going to get girls just by having a nice personality, a nice personality won't get you a foot in the door alone. You need to have the looks to back it up, this is where "chemistry" comes into play, chances are that if a girl doesn't find you physically attractive in the first 30 seconds of seeing you she never will.
In a way, guys are less shallow than women. Guys are happy with just looks. Women on the other hand need "Mr Right" to have both personality and looks (interchangeable with money).

Re: What does "chemistry" mean to a woman?
Very true.
Visual/sexual appeal is the first thing, without any of that your chances drop a lot, like it or not. Personality is second, and if it's all that appeals about you to a woman then you may end up a friend. Sexual appeal is BOTH visual and personality/etc. Look at jack, for example. You wouldn't think a 30-odd somewhat alcoholic skinhead would be quite that popular of a look as far as initial appeal, but I'm willing to bet that he's scored more than the rest of us ever will.
It's a complement and balance to the girl's own personality/etc. that gets you through the door, and usually looks/sexual appeal that get your foot in there first.

Yeah, i remember that!
He said he gave it a trial run in his house, and his mom/sister or some female relative complemented him on the cologne he was wearing, i never followed it past that point though.

I can imagine how well that would go down, uriny semen globbed into your hair and face. It'd be like your mom on an average weekday.

The only chemistry involved between me and a woman is the synthesis of trichloromethane that takes place in my basement.

Re: What does "chemistry" mean to a woman?
I remember, years ago, a friend of mine was dating this amazing looking girl... we were all amazed. We never thought any of us, especially him, would be able to pull anything like this... she was near perfect. Not just looks wise, she was funny and incredibly easy to get on with. It didn't last too long, though... we met up one day and he told me he had finished to her.
It's not too easy to talk when your jaw is on the ground, but I managed to gargle "Why?!" in my stunned state.
He said "We just didn't click"
...and I was enlightened.
I always think of "Chemistry" between two people as the connection between them past physical attraction. Obviously you have to be physically attracted in order for the relationship to start, but you need to "click" in order for it to really work.
