Default Happy Thanksgiving Day.

If I have understood the pic on the Google front page aright , today the Americans celebrate Thanksgiving.

So on behalf of the mods of this forum may I wish all our american members a happy holiday. Have a great time with your families.

Remember REAL family holidays ALWAYS traditionally end with an arguement about the rules for Monoploy and what your Ken said about our Michelle.

Also please remember to cook your turkey properly, its called 'fowl' of a reason.

To the Indians among us (I hate the term Native American) I extend my commiserations for your ancestors' chronic stupidity for saving a bunch of wild-eyed religious whack-jobs who stole your land and brought you the manifold gifts of Syphilis, TB, Small pox and genocide in return.

I can't see whats so fucking happy about the anniversary of a day that protected and further established a corrupt and corrupting social hierarchy that would bring war, genocide, sexism, racism, classism, famine, plauge, pestilence and destruction upon a continent that's celebrated by the slaughter of innocent animals in a wanton display of barbarism.

But thanks anyways :)

You realise all those things existed in North America before Eutorpeans arrived, right?

Infact several of those things got better. Though many got worse.

Thanks, Jack :)

my thanksgiving was...ok. It was at my brother-in-law's house (sister's husband, i didn't get married), and he is italian. all the food was pretty good, but there was no mashed potatoes. im irish; i almost cried. seriously. i love me some mashed potatoes.

plus i hate turkey. i keep telling my boyfriend, when i grow up i will never travel for holidays and i will make either steak, lobster, or something else i actually enjoy. either that, or i will order chinese ^^. i just dont get the point of cooking 20 lbs of meat that everyone has to drench with gravy just to enjoy...

You're not meant to THINK about it like that!
That's like celebrating christmas because that's kind of around the time some muslims may have tacked some guy to a piece of wood and left him for dead, only for him to rise again.
Which is silly, we all know christmas is about ze presents and the toys and shiny things. :)

I think he was referring to the fact that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ, not the death...

This (http://www.the-end.com/) book has an interesting perspective on stuff. And yes, oddly enough it's free, and psychotic christians havent turned up at my door trying to burn me yet.
I had some jehovas witnesses turn up with pitchforks last week but I just offered them some Earl Grey and they calmed down.

Sorry but that was the most ignorant thing I have ever heard you say. I really hope you weren't being serious. Plus you are thinking of Easter not Christmas.

DITTO!

Thanksgiving: a day to give thanks. What can I give thanks for? I know. I can be thankful that I was not in America at the time Columbus sailed the ocean blue. I can be thankful that I wasn’t around 400 years ago, and watched helplessly as my people were slaughtered. I can be thankful that I have never been forced from the only home I ever knew. I can be thankful that I have never lost my entire family to diseases we have never even known existed until a stranger from a far off land pretended to be our friend and then infected us. I can be thankful for never having to fight to survive, or slowly die of famine. I can be thankful that my culture has never been taken away and new beliefs forced on me. I am thankful that I have a home and family, and there is no one plotting on ways to destroy us because they want what is ours. I am thankful that I do not have to deal with fake people smiling in my face pretending to be my friend, and the whole time passing on a disease I would no way be able to survive. I am thankful that can believe whatever I want and not have my culture taken out form under me. This Thanksgiving, I have a lot to be thankful for.

Shut the fuck up you uneducated shitwit. People have been fucking each other over unjustly by any means necessary for thousands of years on every continent between every race, religion, and culture. What happened in America was just some of the same fucked up shit that had always been and probably always will be.

You know, I wasn't even that serious when I made my first post. This was just my first vegan thanksgiving, and I was being a bit prickly.

But its people like SWF that make me feel good about the world. Happy Imperialist Day, Star Wars Fan.
