Ok. So my family has done a lot for me, I received only three years for attempted murder, grand larceny, and burglary. It was even made so that I could serve weekends (2days) or five days a week. During this time, I could rome freely as long as I didn't leave state.

Needless to say, they spent a shit load of money on me. Now that I make quite a bit of money now, I would love to throw a nice party for my sister's sweet 16.

I KNOW that this is more of MMM issue, but I like the people's ideas more here and advice here is mostly for the best. My spending margin is $5,000 to $7,000. I would like her to make a grand entrance, have the best cooking ware and food, and a chef who could whip up most of what a 14-17 year old could think of.

You should note that my sis and I are totally different. She lives in a BIG city, I live in the little, little country.
Any ideas? I was thinking the basics to start with, Dr pepper, Mt. Dew, pepsi, coke, mellow yellow.

Food would follow with white castle, MD's, BK, Red Lobster, various steaks, hotdogs, amd hamburgers. advice...................

OP: I think it depends on what she's into. If she's one of the "kids these days!" types she'd probably like a typical dance-party kinda thing. You could rent out a small party hall and get a generic DJ and it'd be well within your budget.

Have you tried, you know, asking her? Based on the 16 year old girls I know (don't get any ideas, I'm not JoePedo) she'll probably have it all planned out in her head.

Depends on what your little sister likes- if possible, 'borrow' one of her magazines or see if you can figure out which blogs/websites she prefers.

Then, just find a magazine in the same 'scene' with a 'how to' party article or an article about an actual party or party-like event like a convention and copy it. Rip the pictures out and take them to the caterer/party hall and they'll be able to tell you if you can do it. Be sure to get a contract if you do the event hall thing, and write a basic itinerary such as what time the Dj and food will start so people don't stand around for a while with nothing happening.

Prod around and find out what she wishes she could afford... if you have 5-7 grand to spend and she's a teen there's something that she would love to have and use that you could get for 2-3 grand.

The rest you allow her friends to use to throw a big party for her. They'll know what she wants better than you.

Instead of getting her something big if you can't find out what she wants, give her a giant check (who wouldn't love being able to say they once recieved a giant check?). Or, if she's into clothes, take her to the most expensive mall in her area (she lives in a big city, no?) and take her on a shopping spree.

I think there are endless possibilities for this one.

But I'm pretty sure that having a big present, whether it's one thing or a shopping spree, and a party planned by her friends would be a great idea.

My ex's sister's boyfriend and I were from the same place, we knew they same people, places, etc... We became friends and stole a shitload of stuff together, like $100,000+. Ummm, I don't understand. For my 16th birthday I would prefer an alright car to just about any god damn party you could imagine. A party is fleeting, even a 16 year old girl could realize a car is really cool.
