I'd suggest against shaving it completely unless you're into the prepubescent look. Just trim it up nice and short. Beard trimmer works perfect.

i get a brazilian every few weeks. my boyfriend doesn't really mind what i do as long as it's neat. i just prefer it, makes me feel cleaner/sexier. and it doesn't hurt that much. i reckon i have a high tolerance for pain though, the woman that does it is always impressed that i don't even flinch.

as for him - he lets it roam free. i'd be disturbed if he shaved/waxed it off, he's pretty hairy in general - a patch of smooth skin would look strange. might suggest a trim though.
