My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
I found a conversation on Yahoo Messenger with her and this guy, and they were talking about fooling around when my dad isn't home. (He travels 4 days a week)
The conversation has her last name in it, I would post it but I am too lazy to delete her last name.
I am SO pissed off.
Here's a letter I left her, showing up on the computer for when she sits down next:
______________________________________________
TO MOM: PLEASE READ
Mom, I love you. Not just because I have an obligation to because youre my mother, its because I love you. You have raised me, cared for me, supported me, overall loved me.
I found a conversation last night on Yahoo Messenger with you and a Bob. I read the whole thing.
I can now say that I have lost a whole lot of respect for you. Like when I lied to you about the English review, Im hurt. I am truly hurt. I know you havent done anything, but you were considering it. I understand.. Youre lonely. Dads gone all the time. And Its gotta suck. I go insane without seeing Whitney for two days. But going behind our backs, mom? That is just plain damn wrong. You even said you and dad had talked about it! Mom, if you talked about it, I guess that would still be okay. (I still wouldnt be comfortable with it, but its your marriage) but the thing is you said you were going to keep quiet!
I think you should seriously think about what you are even thinking about doing.
For this familys sake, I will not say anything to dad if nothing happens.
If I find out anything does happen, I will have to tell Dad. So please, mom, dont make me do that.
I love you so much, but I have lost respect for you. I just wanted you to know that. I'm not going to talk about it to you. It is your decision to make.

Is the letter good?
Any advice Totse? I need your help.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
Damn, sorry man. I didn't know she had any kids.
Maybe if I'm feeling really nice I'll tell her it's over?
Though in all seriousness, it's fucking out of order. When my mum was doing that I cut all the phone lines, changed her password on all the computers, hid her car keys and just generally did my best to make her life a misery.

Blackmail her? I guess 20 extra bucks a week would come in handy?

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
I think it's good that you found this out before she actually did anything - you may have just saved your parents marriage.
And I don't think its a bad thing that you found the convo, if people are going to go behind others backs, then at least cover your tracks - otherwise you deserve to be caught!
This would fit nicely in Sex and Affection although, and you'd probably get more serious answers there.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
You should have waited for her to meet the guy and then kick the shit out of him. Would have scared both your mum and him a lot better.
Second, you shouldn't have told her how you found out.

Unless he is a totally dependent child, he has to treat his parents as individuals, not expect them to be one.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
What if she's not gettin' any from your dad?
Are you ok with her divorcing him so she can run around lookin' high & low for the illusive satifaction?
j/k I don't know anything about their interpersonal dynamics. Two wacky folks get together & make whoopee! Then they create a new little wacko &...that wacko is you! Ad naseum/ad infinitem 'round & 'round goes the circle of life with some having better luck than others...
Like that study that came out last week? About couples in their 70's & 80's still doing the nasty in the night. Prob because they know that while it's easy to run around when you're young & cute. It's a lot more work when your 80 to make the booty call & it's better to stick with what you've got.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
@zhao BTW (edit)
Until the age of 18, a parent is considered pretty much responsible for what his/her kid does.
And that kinda goes both ways IMO. It's her responsibility to be a good parent, be a good role model, take care of her child until he can handle life on his own, blah-blah.
And they are a family, in a family everyones actions affect everyone.

A child needs two parents and a normal family. Not a single parent or a family that's in constant feud and mistrust.

That's just a cultural norm. Either someone is a good parent or they aren't.

No. If they get a kid, it is their responsibility to at least try and be a good parent. Nobody's perfect, but we can try and control and improve ourselves, that's what makes us human.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
I was in a situation exactly like this before, but it was my ex gfs mom, not my own.
Basically her mom was talking to this dude on the net. Here I thought it was my gf doing it at the time. Her mom told him how she gives good head (ugh) and how she likes anal (gag). They wanted to meet up but their schedules were conflicting.
My gf and I talked about what she should do. Well, she confronted her mother about it and she denied it until she showed her the chat log. She started to cry and go crazy, and all of this bs. She said she never will do anything like this, ever again, and she will never think about another man again.
About a month later she met up with the internet guy, got pregnant by him, my exgf dad found out about it, found the guy, stabbed him three times, pushed my gfs mom down the basement stairs, she had a miscarriage, they got a divorce, then my gf and I broke up because "I caused all of this when I found the chat log". The end.

Is the mom hot? A milf that does anal and gives good head gets an A+ in my book.
You should've just confronted the mom alone, blackmailed the hell out of her for sex. Get mommy and daughter together, threesomes are awesome, and you're keeping it all in the family.
Win/Win in my book.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
Now let me tell you a story.
Back in January 1998 (or 99), my father left to tend to my dying grandmother (she's still alive) thousands of miles away. While he was away my mother had many men over to our house. I took nothing of it.
Then one day she left me to go watch a movie with her "friends", she came back several days later. I asked her to fuck off and locked the house from the inside. It took her a while to get the doors unlocked.
My father was back within a week. He didnt know about any of it. So I decided to tell him, what had happened and what I had done (thinking I did a bad thing by locking my mother out), he told me I did the right thing.
He didnt talk to my mother for a week, and when they did speak they were shouting. I didnt like it. I took a knife to my mother and asked her to leave. She did. Within two weeks my and my father left the country.
It would be 6 (or 7) years before I would see my mother again.
And I do not regret what I had done. Even though the truth I spoke destroyed my family and has destroyed me as a person, I would rather be as I am now than be living in a lie.
The truth is most important. If you have any love, respect or loyalty for your father, you will tell him the truth. But if you go on living a lie, and you force him to live a lie, you will regret it for the rest of your life. I promise you that.
If it has come down to cheating then the relationship is as good as over. Not disclosing the facts to the appropriate parties is unfair. Your father has a right to know. And it should be he and your mother and NOT YOU who decide what they are to do with their lives.
Or are you just here to whore for some attention?
The truth shall set you free.

You really should mind your own buisness.
I can respect you and your situation, I too would be distressed, but really, what she does is up to her, whether she tells your dad or not is a choice she has to make, and threatening to tell daddy is going to do nothing but make her think what a prying little git you are.

So you're the kind of person who just sits by and watches her loved ones get backstabbed? That's sad
I believe that a person should stand up for those who he/she cares about and that includes standing up for their honour and dignity.
But yeah, that's just me.

So you're the sort of person who'd intefere in somebodys buisness when it has nothing to do with you?
As I said, I can understand the guy being upset, and yeah, it's smart to confront his mum about the matter, but she's got to tell her husband in her own way. Imagine how fucked up it would be for a father to hear from his own son that "dad mum is being a dirty whore" ?
Perhaps there's more to this than we'll ever know. Perhaps both parents have agreed to an open relationship. Perhaps they're allready split up in a way but have been protecting the kids.
My boyfriend parents slept in seperate rooms and never spoke to each other, because both were too comfy where they were and didnt want to 'upset the children'. Bullshit I know, but parents and logic dont tend to go well together.
You either have to be very mature in this sort of sitaution, or go all out psycho.
I found out that my dad cheated on my mum once, whilst he was in france. It was a long time ago he did it but I only found out a while back. As I no longer have any contact with the fuck and have no desire to, being mature was unfortunately out of the option. His car had some problems though.

If the one being fucked over is my friend or family, then it does have something to do with me. What else are friends for? Like i already said, I stand up for my people and I expect the same in return.
As I said, I can understand the guy being upset, and yeah, it's smart to confront his mum about the matter, but she's got to tell her husband in her own way. Imagine how fucked up it would be for a father to hear from his own son that "dad mum is being a dirty whore" ?
Well it's the mums fault for being a whore really. And would it be less fucked up if she told his dad only because he already caught her?
Perhaps there's more to this than we'll ever know. Perhaps both parents have agreed to an open relationship. Perhaps they're allready split up in a way but have been protecting the kids...
Then there's nothing to fear, nothing bad can really come out of confessing it then and it would make mum seem less like a whore.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.

Its his family, its his/her life. He/she is the only person capable of making a decission based on what he/she knows about his/her family.
As I said, I can understand the guy being upset, and yeah, it's smart to confront his mum about the matter, but she's got to tell her husband in her own way. Imagine how fucked up it would be for a father to hear from his own son that "dad mum is being a dirty whore" ?
Sure. What makes you think that she would tell him?
It takes alot for the truth to come out. Sure confront her and talk to her about it.
How would you feel if your boyfriend cheated on you, everyone else knew but no one told you?
Perhaps there's more to this than we'll ever know. Perhaps both parents have agreed to an open relationship. Perhaps they're allready split up in a way but have been protecting the kids.
My boyfriend parents slept in seperate rooms and never spoke to each other, because both were too comfy where they were and didnt want to 'upset the children'. Bullshit I know, but parents and logic dont tend to go well together.
Would you prefer to live a lie than to face the truth?
People get hurt sooner or later either way. Why make things worse by extending some figment of imagination when it is just that?
You either have to be very mature in this sort of sitaution, or go all out psycho.
I found out that my dad cheated on my mum once, whilst he was in france. It was a long time ago he did it but I only found out a while back. As I no longer have any contact with the fuck and have no desire to, being mature was unfortunately out of the option. His car had some problems though.
Right...
So you fucked up his car? Did you even confront him (in a cool and calm fashion)? Or was this some emo-bullshit you used to cope with shit?
You took it upon yourself to have revenge for something that happened a long time ago now? Wow, how cool of you.
And you are giving advise here to be mature and not interfere?
What would you have said, if someone said that to your face, when you were in the OPs place?

no one is going to believe this but I work with a guy named whitney and we work for 4 days at a time...just thought it was really coincidental, I don't think he has any teenage kids though

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
The end.
If that story is true your exgf's dad is my hero. FUCKING PWNT!

No, i don't. And if my GF would cheat on me and my friends would be aware of it and wouldn't tell me, then I wouldn't consider them to be real friends.

Non-interventionism and neutrality IS Respect. You're respecting them doing their stuff and not fucking with them.
Not to mention if you make a mistake, your reputation and popularity points go down and they'll claim you're jealous or some thit

Well, you only interfere when you know that there can't be a mistake. Spreading rumours about your friend's girlfriend is not a good thing to do.
And, of course, first thing to do before telling your friend is talk to his girlfriend about it, and warn her about what is going to happen.
That's the proper way to do it.

LOL yeah this actually happened to this degree. He is a typical biker, fuckin tattoos out the ass, swastica tattoo on his back, two teardrop tattoos under one eye (I swear to fucking god he killed two people...he always denied it even when drunk but I know he did...I can feel it), fishing hook tattoo under other eye (actually doesnt look bad). He is a really cool dude to talk to. He is a great mechanic, and a drunk too. He had fucking military mortars and det cord for christs sake! Crazy feller.
He DID get jailtime...had a great lawyer (top criminal in our area/surrounding area). Cost a lot of fuckin money, but only spent 3 months in county prison. I just left it out because I was trying to be brief. Also, this wasnt about her dad really it was her mom that caused this. I also left out that the other guy shot a few rounds at her dad when he was I guess trying to stab him...and all of the shots missed except one grazed his arm. The other dude actually got jail time too because they determined that her dad didnt show a knife or any means of hurting the guy at first and he wasnt justified in trying to kill her dad just because he was in his house. It was a big mess and a long story.

OP, your mom is a grown woman and can decide without the help of her kid who she wants to sex.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
So you're the sort of person who'd intefere in somebodys buisness when it has nothing to do with you?
I'm pretty sure your parents cheating on each other [easy way to fuck over a marriage] will affect you? Life changes when divorces happen and usually for the worse [especially for the kid].
Almightyares- Fucking great story, that should be a movie!

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
It really is her business, but keeping it to yourself is going to be a hell of a lot worse. I think writing the letter was appropriate, as you didn't come off making any forward assumptions. Best thing you can do is just let her read the letter, if she feels like talking to you about it, so be it. If not, there's really nothing you can do without telling your Dad.

Re: My mom is thinking about cheating on my dad.
If that happened to me, I would confront my mum outright about it. I would tell her it might be her life, but I have a younger brother and three younger sisters who depend on her, and I am would not let her poor decision making ruin their lives.
Then if she still decided to fuck up, I would wait for the guy to come over, then stab his ass.
In all seriousness, I would gladly go to jail if it meant my siblings got the life they deserved.
That shit isn't cool, and for all of you saying it is none of his business, fuck off.
He has every right to protect his parent's relationship. Maybe the rest of you aren't on good terms with your parents and wouldn't care what they did, but it looks like the OP does care.
At least he has the guts to confront her in a reasonable manner.
Rest of you, grow some balls. Take initiative once in a while.
