BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
Think about it.
Redneck men who beat their wives are condemned by society (and they should be), but at the same time trendy urbanites who tie up and beat their wife or partner are to be "tolerated" and paraded around by the media as some sort of desirable novelty.
Before you say, "Well the BDSM participants consent... blah blah", think. That's really no different then the battered wife telling the police that she fell down the stairs.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
What..?
If you're beating someone, regardless of your social status or wealth level, it shouldnt be 'tolerated'.
And by BDSM that usually means that both people are consenting.. Even if they're pretending they're not.
Or have I misunderstood you?

My point is that beating your partner in BDSM is no different from beating your partner outside of BDSM, and the "consent" is equally bogus.
Therefore, neither practice should be accepted.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
No it is differnt. Because the girl that gets beat by her husband thats not into BDSM is only saying that it wasn't her husbands fault because she is scared of what he will do to her, and is sometimes just plain dumb. Where as the BDSM girl is actually getting PLEASURE from the pain. Im not into the whole pain scene but I know there is a difference. The BDSM women are ASKING for it they want it and love it. The abused wives don't say "Ohh hunny hit me harder hit me harder", they say "im sorry please don't hit me i promise I wont mess up again hunny". Some people are just really differnt and for some crazy reason they like the pain. I don't know where you see BDSM PARADED around. I mean on the internet yea but I don't see it on tv or what not as the big cool thing to do.

By that logic, if you have sex with your partner you're actually just raping them. It shouldnt be allowed!

Yea but you do realize dumb fuck that BDSM people arn't pretending to consent some people really do consent to getting hurt. You stupid fuck. Im not saying that its healthy for them to get smacked around or burned or what ever kinky shit they have done to them but if thats what they WANT then thats what they want. I mean you realize they LOOK for someone to hit them sometimes, its not like this-guy "hey babe can I try hitting you while we fuck?" girl nervous"Umm ok yea thats fine with me" and her pretending she likes it

Thank you demonstrating your intelligence by using proper spelling & grammar, remaining civil despite your disagreement, and refraining from the use of profanity. ;)
1. People will often put up with things that seriously hurt them to please the one they love.
2. People who want to be hurt are not thinking rationally and obviously some sort of mental defect which needs to be addressed.

So you're saying couples shouldnt do anything for their partners and it's wrong if they let their partner do something they might not ultimately enjoy themselves?
You're a very selfish person in your relationship, arent you?

In contrast, those who engage in BDSM are quite selfish for caring more about their own hedonistic pleasure than the safety and comfort of their partner.
What I'm saying is that relationships that involve violence or physical harm are always unhealthy and wrong.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
So because someone is differnt and likes differnt things makes them mentally deffective thats a great thought. And by your reasoning some that partakes in smoking, drinking, or eating mcdonalds has a mental defect because they are doing something that is unhealthy and potentially harmful to their body right?
And yes its selfish of them to want to enjoy things your so damn smart. I wish I could be as smart as you some day. Also i don't give a fuck about my language or grammer. I do try for spelling and sentence structure but im no english major and im not trying to make it perfect, as far as the word fuck or any curse words like it yes I cuss so fucking what. Next you'll probably tell me I have a mental deffect for that because cussing is unhealthy and im selfish for partaking in such an unhealthy fucking god damn habbit. And yes i made a fucking point to say more fucking swear words.

In the title mr Rolloflle you have stated specifically "spousal abuse", is this by any chance indicationg that you are also apposed to; sex prior to marriage, homosexaulity, and everything else that bestseller we know as the bible forbids?
I have a feeling everymans friend Mr. Ketch will have something to say about this thread.

Mr Ketch's laptop is ILL and therefore he isn't around much. (so if anyone has IBM T21 or T22 parts then email me PLEASE!).
I rather depise BDSM as 'coffee table sadism' however I do believe what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom is purely their business.
It IS a point of law that no one can consent to 'abuse' and strictly speaking abuse as part of BDSM is illegal most places (no I'm joking, there have been cases).
I am however a believer in DD.

Some girls like being beaten. For real.
They are the kind of twistid evil bitches who purposely drive their man insane just so they could satisfy their inner attention whore when they get compassion from all their friends and family later on.
I didn't make this up, i heard it from our school shrink.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
What couples decide to do based on mutual agreement is their business.
Dissallowing sexual practices that are strictly within the law (that is, consentual, etc) because you find it intollerable is rediculous.
There's a big difference between BDSM and spousal abuse. They have different aims, methods, and ramifications.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
BDSM isn't just about pain. Some people who engage in it have nothing to do with hurting each other physically.
Saying it's glorified domestic/spousal abuse shows a total lack of understanding about the D/s lifestyle and other aspects of that scene.
There are fuzzy boundaries, like where rough sex crosses the line, and where a little bit of kink in the bedroom becomes BDSM.
Read a book.

Who cares what you think isn't right. I know for a fact if I was beating my wife and you saw you wouldn't do shit about it, because your a pussy.
Not saying i'd beat my wife..unless she deserved it.
What consenting people do in their bedroom is none of your fucking business anyways, if I wanna pour some melting wax on some bitches titties and she likes it who the fuck are you to say anything about it.
I'm sure there's something alot worse then kinky sex going on in the world you could force your shitty little opinion on, fuck off.

Before you say, "Well the BDSM participants consent... blah blah", think. That's really no different then the battered wife telling the police that she fell down the stairs.
Wow, that is probably the worst logic I have ever seen. They are based on ENTIRELY different principals.
1). Men who abuse their spouses usually don't do it during a sexual act. Therefore, it isn't NEAR BDSM.
2). The victims of spousal abuse DON'T consent, they are beaten to a pulp because they are defenseless. If they tell the police a fake story, it is because they ARE AFRAID OF BEING BEATEN AGAIN!
3). BDSM turns certain people on. Both of the CONSENTING parties enjoy it, because it enhances their sexual experience. While one party may enjoy the spousal abuse, the other is SCARED TO DEATH OF IT!
So, using my previous statements, I think that we can conclude that the OP either beats his significant other and is trying to make it "moral" to do, or he is a sadistic fuck.

ZX Diet Pepsi, I really suggest that you open your whore-isons and think for a second...........okay..........now jump up and down..............now that you've got the sand out of your pussy we can start. \
1. according to the logic that consensual BDSM is abuse (also meaning sex is rape and plastic surgery is mutilation), a whole shitload of things that happen every day are illegal (even if they aren't)
2. The person getting hurt and tied up in BDSM is getting sexual pleasure from it, it is consensual and although it is very weird (and most people see it like that) there is nothing that the government to stop the movement of consensual practitioners of bdsm unless they are doing it criminally (like just taking people off the street and bdsming them).
3. All men (a reference to all humanity) are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness ( and if being beaten while tied down to your bed makes you happy go ahead whatever floats your boat- just don't force it on me - it's against the law to do that).

violence is one of our basest emotions, at least as much as sexuality, or so says Sigmund Freud.
i wont argue that it should not be tolerated as spousal abuse, but i do believe that there is no reason to compare BDSM to abuse, seeing as both parties are deriving pleasure from the action.

I heard about that. I think it's one of the riskiest things in moderate bdsm, being missunderstood or falling on the wrong side of the law.
I am above the age of consent, and can make choices for myself, and I'm pretty sure I can distinguish the differences between abuse and BDSM play. I've topped and bottomed.
When I do, however, consider the things I did when I was younger, I realize that if my parents or anyone ever found out, it would only seem in their eyes to be me in a dangerous and vunerable position.
It is something for me to consider, and I have to be careful. Because of my tender age, it's very hard finding anyone as young as me into the same things, so I tend to have to look for older people, which makes it look even worse from an outside perspective.

It is a principle in law that no one can consent to abuse (actually that law is there for very good reasons, it stops husbands saying 'but she consented to me beating the crap out of her').
Which means if you wake up next morning and decide, for whatever reason, to go to the police then your 'top' of the night before will be charged.

fantastic, spousal abuse is terrible, unless it's of the consensual nature, in which case it isn't abuse.

I think it's still good for people to at least vaguely document the guidelines of their lifestyle/relationship, incase of queries later, even if it isn't going to stand up in court. Although I suppose that could even be used as negative evidence anyway.
Long lasting marks in general are a bad idea, or anything that looks suspect.. arnica is your friend.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
Thank you for the ad hominems, they really exemplify your debating ability and intelligence. ;)
If a crazy person consents to be killed or harmed is it okay? How can anyone who wants to be harmed be sane?
What do you consider crazy? Someone who has interests and beliefs that differ from your own?
I believe that if someone truly does not want to live, they shouldn't have to. I'm all for assisted suicide. I believe that people should be able to do whatever they want, without the criticism of people like you. So long as everything is consensual and they aren't hurting anyone else, what difference does it make to you?

well according to Dr. Kevorkian it's not only okay but Ethical, and soon in the states of California and Oregon it will be to (but only if it's serious, like cancer, aids and the person wants to die "with dignity"). But anyhow I don't see what makes it abuse? Both sides have agreed on it, and there aren't laws against BDSM directly, therefore it isn't considered domestic violence or abuse, so why the associations?

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
On the assisted suicide. The only reason someone should be HELPED kill themselves is when they are completly unable to do it themselves. Otherwise they whould be the ones that takes the pills or blows their brains out. If you are not able to kill yourself then you obviously don't want to die enough do you?

Well the answer to that is because it doesn't really HURT it actaully feels like pleasure. I mean I know when ive been scratched in a non sexual way that shit hurt but then when ive been fucking a girl good and shes digging her nails into my back to were it leaves marks it only feels damn good. Or like when a girl bites you in a sexual way ive had a girl that bit me damn fucking hard on the arm in a sexual way felt fucking great and then when she bit me same way but just because and it wasn't meant sexually shit hurt and wasn't so fun. Its all a mind game. I mean ill vouche for the fact that I might be slightly unstable who the fuck knows, but id consider myself slightly normal and definalty not COMPLETLY insane. Yet I enjoyed a little pain.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
yes when done right it can be good, and depending on the person, it can be preferable to "normal sex" (why BDSM is touted as alternative sex: because it's an alternative to "normal sex" this is very obvious), and knowing frivolous lawsuits and it being my personal opinion that people are moving in that direction:( it's only natural to assume BDSM as spousal abuse, when the painful reality seems to be it's just another way of extracting pleasure from sexual experiences (like the scratching you mentioned earlier). I honestly don't see why people have such a beef with consensual alternative sexual practices, I'm not giving people who marry 15 year old girls an excuse (unless the girl lies and it can be proven), but if this keeps going on being able to toss a little excitement into the often boring realm of casual sex (where you've seen the same thing time and time again) can be good for people

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
People can be talked into BDSM through emotional abuse. In that case, it is clear cut spousal abuse.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
In BDSM partners normally have a 'safe' word, that they say when they are getting uncomfortable with the situation and that stops the action.
There's the difference right there.

I think the primary difference is... a hick's wife that gets the TV remote thrown at her head by a mechanic that downed a six pack of Budweiser.
Compared to a "Master" wearing a $200 leather ensemble making a woman's pussy wet by slapping her around.
That's all I have to say about that.

S&M participants pretend that it isn't consensual when it is.
Abusers pretend it is consensual when it isn't.
You aren't a kink? Cool, that's your deal. I'm more of a sub and you're not gonna tell me that I'm asking to be abused against my will. It's just like a rape fantasy. It's violent and probably unhealthy, but by definition, you can't fanticise about being forced to do something you don't want to do.

another difference is , his wife burns his steak, he (who's wasted beyond belief) beats her to the point of severe injury in front of her kids.
the "master" smacks her a little for being a "bad girl" and she's sexually aroused by it, and likes it compared to the hicks wife who doesn't like being beaten and probably won't burn his steak again.

You talking about the woman burning the steak reminded me of a good thing to go with this thread. So what do you tell a woman with two black eyes? Nothing you already told the bitch twice haha. I couldn't resist.

Re: BDSM is just another word for spousal abuse
Rolloffle has a very good point. When does consent become meaningless? How many of you would say a 5-year-old's consent means anything? If your mother begged you to kill her before the "pig-aliens" ate her intestines, would you kill her or take her to the mental hospital? Or what about the man in Germany, who allowed another man to chop off his genitals then eat them (and eventually all of him, I believe)?
How do you define "mentally ill", and when does your responsibility to others begin? I believe that anyone who wants to be hurt, or to hurt others, is mentally unsound. That's really the only standard we have to go by to judge behavior: "does it hurt anyone?" If it only hurts someone who consented to be hurt, it's still hurting someone - and anyone who would consent to something so irrational is plainly, well, irrational. Mentally ill. And we have a responsibility to help the mentally ill.
What do you consider crazy? Someone who has interests and beliefs that differ from your own?
Someone who is irrational to the point of causing harm. If it's to themselves, it's still harm... and were they in a more rational frame of mind, they might realize they don't actually want that.
I believe that if someone truly does not want to live, they shouldn't have to. I'm all for assisted suicide. I believe that people should be able to do whatever they want, without the criticism of people like you.
If you had a child and they decided they wanted to die, would you kill them?
What makes you think that an adult in that state of mind is any more well-equipped to make that sort of decision?
Or what if someone, incredibly frustrated/sad/angry/etc, briefly screams "I WANT TO DIE!" I'm sure they'd mean it at the time. I've seen it happen; for ten minutes, or an hour, someone is so upset they just lose all control. Would it be okay to kill them then? If in an hour they'd ashamedly realize they were way overreacting and actually love life?
So long as everything is consensual and they aren't hurting anyone else, what difference does it make to you?
Because I care about them. Is the concept of caring for others too alien for you mentally-ill pain-freak devil-fiends?

Lol...

Go here. Lurk moar.
When does consent become meaningless?
NEVAR!!!!
How many of you would say a 5-year-old's consent means anything?
...I'd say it means 30 minutes of bliss and a lifetime of cuddling afterwards...
If your mother begged you to kill her before the "pig-aliens" ate her intestines, would you kill her or take her to the mental hospital?
Lol. You haven't met my mother, have you?
I'd make the bitch put it in writing first.
Or what about the man in Germany, who allowed another man to chop off his genitals then eat them (and eventually all of him, I believe)?
Heard about that. I, for one, support our consensually cannabalistic bretheren.
How do you define "mentally ill"...
Oh, at about the point where people launch long, rambling threads about how other people don't have the right to run their own lives just because they're not like the OP.
...and when does your responsibility to others begin?
Oh, at about the point where people try to do something to implement their rambling threads about how other people don't have the right to run their own lives just because they're not like the OP.
I believe that anyone who wants to be hurt, or to hurt others, is mentally unsound.
So, what exactly is it you want to do to these people who fuck kindergarteners while they eat human flesh, again?
That's really the only standard we have to go by to judge behavior: "does it hurt anyone?"
...whatever happened to free will? I mean, for starters, living under your demented fascist vision for one world leadership would hurt me....
...and anyone who would consent to something so irrational...
...as your entire post...
...is plainly, well, irrational. Mentally ill.
Could be.
And we have a responsibility to help the mentally ill.
Please report for committment so that we can begin your aversion therapy to treat your cognitively distorted political views, TF.
Someone who is irrational to the point of causing harm.
...by, say, implementing your fascist vision...
If it's to themselves...
...it'd be a damned sight better than your lust for inflicting your conformity on everyone else on the god-damned planet. Speaking of which... isn't your absolute faith in your own infalliability to the degree that you're cramming the view of "your ass of one" down the throats of 6 1/2 billion people somewhere along the definition of "megalomania?"
Got news for your mentally ill self - you are not my messiah. Fuck off.
If you had a child and they decided they wanted to die, would you kill them?
Wouldn't be my first plan, but fuck, if there was no other recourse...
What makes you think that an adult in that state of mind is any more well-equipped to make that sort of decision?
Oh. You're presupposing I chose a different answer to your "ITS OKAY TO RAEP LOLI CAUSE TEHY DON'T MATTER" bullshit, I guess?
Nah. You guessed wrong. Again, you are not my messiah, nor my leader, nor even good at asking rhetorical questions, seeing as the majority found SOMETHING to tell you to fuck off about long ago, in this rambling post.
No, because that would be promoting... laziness. Unless they're doing the Christopher Reeves' lifestyle thing, in which case they'd have an excuse, no?
If in an hour they'd ashamedly realize they were way overreacting and actually love life?
...then they phailed at suicide, no?
Because I care about them. Is the concept of caring for others too alien for you mentally-ill pain-freak devil-fiends?
...until you lose everyone in your life because you couldn't resist destroying their life like it was your own. News flash : you are not the ruler of the universe, and everyone's world does not revolve around you. Nor should it. Fuck off and stay out of everyone else's business.
tl/dr : Loli are hot. Human flesh is yummy. Euthanasia is ecoactivism. Abortions tickle. Fascism is bad unless I'm the guy in charge.

well seeing as you probably can't fathom this, you the average civilian have no clue to interfere with the consensual pursuit of happiness as pursued by others and neither are they for you:p
But in cases of spousal abuse (being that BDSM isn't spousal abuse) only one side is getting some sort of satisfaction from it (or not at all), it's just one part of the couple hurting the other because they got angry at them for something, while both sides are taking some sort of pleasure in BDSM.

I don't know what he is.
