Ok, so what do you guys do about your messed up parents? My mom has severe rage, and depression issues. She often takes way to many of her anti-depressant pills and then drinks a lot. After this, she gets incredibly violent and angry. Other times, she won't even take the meds and the same things happen just to a lesser extent. My dad is cool, often when she goes berserk we just leave and go to the shore or a motel. Lately, she has had this incredible obsession with keeping my room clean. She just goes in their one day while I'm not there, and throws everything out. I found all of my clothes, computer, ipod, ect. in the either the trash, a box to good will, or in the attic. We really don't know what to do about her anymore, ignoring her or just leaving really isn't working at this point. This morning at about 1, I wake up to her hitting me and screaming for the password to my computer. I just made something up to get her to leave my room and I just locked the door. Once she found out the code I gave her didn't work, she was clawing, pounding, and screaming at my door for about 2 hours. After these rage bursts die down, she gets all depressed and goes around saying why is everyone so mean to me? I really am beginning to hate her and my dad is starting to consider a divorce. What do you think we should do about this?

She's being physically abusive, invading your privacy, being negligent,cruel, and willfully damaging or destroying your stuff.

You should get child services involved if she continues, and your dad is a coward for not protecting you from her.

I'm starting to concider doing that. Today when I was checking the attic for more of my stuff, I heard from downstairs, and I quote, "You better get out of that attic or I'm going to cut your throat!"

Now she is just running around the house slamming things.
Looks like child services may be the way to go.

Its a horrid thing to do and your dad will never get over the guilt but he and you have to take such threats seriously.

yea some of yuo may think this is great but my moms super fucking annoying. shes always trying to feed me, make me happy, have a perfect family. shes always like so what do you want to eat? i say nothing and just to get me to eat she ask if i want subway. sometimes she will just make food just so its there and i eat it. out of the blue she says "evileye250, come have some pizza, i made it for you!"

if i leave a pair of shorts on the floor in my room, in less than a half hour it will be picked up and in the wash.

she alwyas trys to talk to me. ill be watch tv alone, mom walks and and trys to start a converstion like "wow good weather all this week, so what do you want to do?" at the dinner table she will say like "mmmm good tomatoes, hum?" even tho there from the can. usually she will say about 3 things are "good."

shes constantly cleaning too, right now shes moving lawn furniture.

shes naver mad to us. if shes arguing dad one minute, then i ask where my t-shirt is, she wont act made to me, even tho shes mumbles under her beath so loud i can hear it 10ft away.

shes so fucking messed up, im getting out of here asap. i would run away, but just to go on an adventure, but she would get all nervous, call the cops then i would be all over the news like the last 2 run aways. thats the last thing i want.

First, have her sectioned, then advise your father to file for divorce (I'm pretty sure it goes through easier when one member of the relationship is locked away, even the Catholics must be okay with that)

And the catholics are NEVER okay with ANYTHING.

I forgot to say: If i was you, and I'm terrible at advice, I wouldn't move out. I couldn't do it, leaving my dad with someone like that.
I would then do what Siatek said - have her sectioned, then advise your dad to file for divorce.

Thanks for the responses guys. Well, when she lost it yesterday, I called my dad up at work abd told him the situation and he said to just get out if the house. He described it as "4th of July all over again." (this past 4th, we came home from the supermarket to find the majority of our things in trashbags in the garage. When we confronted her about it, she just lost it. So, we packed what we could grab and left. The whole way out, she was throwing actual garbage at the car.) Anyway, I quietly slipped out yesterday and a few hours later my dad called me up and said to come home which I did. When I arrived, she was perfectly happy and normal. My dad said he got home and she was just doing crossword puzzles perfectly happy. She happily greeted me and suggested I invite some friends over for dinner. All in all is was a toal mood swing. These tend to last for about a day or two until the shit hits the fan again.

And iSoape, I fear that everyday man. I'm 15 now and nothing like that has shown up yet, thank god.

Hate to burst your bubble, but psychotic disorders don't appear until around the age of 19. Smoking weed and drinking will bring about these otherwise dormant conditions.

I'm getting signs of the shit myself from my dad's often RIDICULOUS rage and anxiety for seemingly no reason.

I remember we were sitting there on the floor against my bed playing N64 or something when I was 7 or 8 and I was having a good time, it was some co-op game or something when out of nowhere he throws his controller hard as fuck at the wall and then takes mine (which I had dropped) and bashed it against the frame of my bed until it was in half and pieces were everywhere. I was litterally like "what the fuck." then got seriously slapped across the face. My mom came in to see what the fuck all the noise was and then they got in a huge fight and my dad kicked in our cheap coffee table and left. then he called me apologizing and shit.

Oh, they were divorced at this time and he was just visiting me. And this was when we were pretty damn poor living in a shitty 2 bedroom apartment.

But other fucked up shit like that would happen irregularly until I got a lil older, now he seems to be doing better he's taking a whoper dose of Xanax which I tried to tell my mom I need, I actually got perscribed then I fucked it up by abusing Xanax that I bought from someone else..... Why did I go on such a big rant. Whats up.


Oh yeah, I get angry and shit like that and I found that just taking a big time out and smoking a cigarette works wonders. But I'm underaged so I can't always do this obviously, like at school or whatever. Not to mention his depression but I won't get into that, that's some gay shit.
