In all humility and in the interests of accuracy, I should point out that it was just a little old garbage-eating black bear, probably didn't go more than 200 pounds--but it still could have whipped my ass in a fair fight.

I was the one with the gun, however : my wife's Ruger .357 magnum.

(Her ex gave it to her after she told them that the local guys had been hitting on her after hearing that they had broken up.)
