I need to move a pool table.
Not sure if this belongs here, if it would be suited better in Games People Play or elsewhere, please move it.
I need to move an 8'x4' pool table to the upstairs area of my house. The legs of the table are detachable, and going up the stairs is not an option as we have a spiral staircase.
The table needs to be lifted or jacked up to clear 12 feet to get it upstairs. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?

Chop it in half and sew it back together.

Re: I need to move a pool table.
How heavy is it? You might be able to get two step ladders 6' apart and lift it between two people, with someone else at the top helping with a rope.

Mr1Egg was almost right. The slate top is usually made in three pieces, and can be taken apart. You'll need to look up how to reattach the felt and reseal the slate with beeswax, but it's probably easier than lifting the whole thing.

Re: I need to move a pool table.
Ours weighed something like 300kgs and took 4 people to get in. It was on this beefy 4 wheeled trolley and to get it up one step they rocked it back up on two wheels and pushed forward.
I can only imagine the pain and frustration you're about to experience...

Re: I need to move a pool table.
I think mommy is going to have to just deal with the damned pool table in the middle of the room.
I suppose you could always take it apart board by board and reconstruct it upstairs? If the bed the slate rests on is sturdy, you can cut the slate in half and when you are putting it back together, vee the edge you cut, fill it with epoxy (assuming it sticks) and sand it smooth. Good as new.

Re: I need to move a pool table.
Pretty sure you don't have to cut it in half... He said it has to clear twelve feet, so there's a balcony or something above it and it has to go 8' up from the first story then over a 4' railing or something, right? Dual ladders and a rope are the way to go, with like 8 people pushing and pulling from wherever they can get a grip. You can do it, it'll just be a bitch.
