I got a speeding ticket
Well I got a ticket for going 31mph over. A city in Texas. Anyone have any idea if I have any chance at getting out of it? My record is completely clean driving and criminal. I'm 21 and I know my insurance will go apeshit. It's too high for deferred adjudication/disposition... isn't it? What should I do? Ohhhh maaan. Figured someone in here's probably experienced a speeding ticket before.
On the ticket it also says
"
In construction zone
with workers present:
N
"
Does that mean it was in a construction zone and I'll get a double fine or do workers have to be present?
I'm totally screwed, right?

Re: I got a speeding ticket
Hmm, looks like deferred adjudication is for under 25mph. Could it be different in the city I was pulled over in? I'm on insurance with someone else, any chance I could get off that insurance and on to something else so it won't affect their rate?

Changing insurance companies won't help. When you apply for coverage you give them permission to review your driving record.
You might be able to repair some of the damage to the points on your license by taking a driver's ed refresher course.

Protest the ticket. If you're lucky the cop wont come to court and you get off.

but if your unlucky you'll have to pay the ticket on the spot, and 31 miles an hour over (around here) would be like a 400 dollar ticket, then double that for inside a construction zone, (workers dont have to be present) they just need to have orange shit up and around the area. so you are looking at like 800-900 dollars. but if your record is clean, your rates shouldnt go up, that much.
i have 1 speeding ticket (in a school zone) 1 semafore ticket (running a red light) a 5 accidents on my record. (only 2 of which were my fault) and my rates have yet to budge. so it just depends on the company you have insurance with, how long you have been with them. and a few other factors
well good luck

Well he was going to have to do that anyways, so its not really bad luck. Getting caught was bad luck, paying the ticket is expected.
Protest the ticket, cops never show up.
To ComradeAsh: It depends how long hes been driving. If he's 16 then its pretty bad. If hes 50 then its damn good. 1 speeding ticket ever, 1 red light ticket ever, and 2 accidents that were his fault. That not bad at all.

obviously, but if you had finished the quote with the ENTIRE sentence. you would have noticed i had said "on the spot" but its not that big of a deal. cause having to pay the fine before you leave could fuck you over if you didnt bring cash or a credit card or something. ya know?
and to ComradeAsh
i am 21. i got the speeding ticket a 32 in a 30 (but it was a scool zone)
the running the red light, it was 3 am and the street i was on has like 5 lights right in a row (right over this bridge). the one ahead of me turned green, and the only car i could see was way behind me, and it was a cop, just bad luck
as for the two accidents they both were right when i got my licence. the first was i backed into another car totally my fault. and the second was pulling out of my driveway (blind driveway) i pulled out and this stupid blonde was hugging the curb so i pulled out right in front of her and she hit me. had she been in the lane, or competent enough to know basic aggressive driving skills it would have been avoided.
so i wouldnt say i am a shit driver. i actually am a pretty good driver. i have a job as a courier. so they must not think my record is to bad

Re: I got a speeding ticket
Definitely challenge that ticket, if you didn't seen any construction signs, be sure to bring that up.
There's a story out there of a man who send the officer a letter telling him he had lost an unknown relative, and had to report to a solicitor (UKeng) to be eligible for the inheritance, preventing him from showing up in traffic court ... just a though.
