Default My husband threw a glass at me (sort of long)

but he missed.

Long story short, today, he and I were screaming at each other in the kitchen about something or another. I moved away from him because he had grabbed my wrist earlier and I didn't want him to touch me. So, I'm behind the island and when I turn around, he throws something really hard and it hits the back wall. (It turns out to be a glass cup- it's shattered all over the sink and floor right now.) Then he says, "That was supposed to hit you in the face" and leaves the house.

He and I have been sort of fighting and bickering for about 2 weeks now, every single day. I don't know why but when I look at him, I just get pissed off. (And for the record, no, I'm not PMSing or anything.) I really don't know what we're even fighting about. But that was probabaly the worst that's happened out of all our fights.

We've been married for almost 1 year and known each other for almost 3- I don't really understand what I'm doing wrong. It's not like I don't try to stop fighting. But when I do try to let it go, he says, "You're being passive aggressive. If you're mad, then do something about it."

Just kind of upset and ranting right now, but kind of pissed off and waiting for Mr. Jackass to come back home.

the first 2 years of marriage is like that. you feel like you hate each other after a year you'll actually have things worked out if you both try. I'ved been going through arguments with my wife about anything so I know this shit happens. you got nothing to worry about I bet he missed you on purpose.

I find this to be highly likely, its surprisingly hard to miss a large unmoving target at presumably about 6 feet, by accident.

He's right about letting it out.

But the glass throwing makes me slightly nervous. Depending on the type of person he is, he either really missed and is happy he missed or he missed on purpose in order to get his point across. If he really wanted to beat you down he would have by now.

OT, It depends... If you think he was deadly serious when he said he was aiming for you, GET OUT. If he was just aiming to break something, like some people punch walls, GET OUT ANYWAY. Rage is never a good thing.

Or don't, whatever, that's just what I think.
Good luck with it, whatever you do. ;)

I personally think you should leave the house and stay with somebody else (a close friend or parents, maybe?) , call him up, tell him that if he doesn't change then that's it and you're not coming back. Take your kid if you have one (if you don't, sry I'm just throwing it out there). If he continues to do that kind of shit, then call the police, they're usually pretty strict on domestic violence.

EDIT: But then again, what do I know? Meh...

The first two years of marriage really shouldn't involve throwing glasses at your partner.

He wasn't even trying to hit you, he wouldn't have said anything if he had. Moreso, he wouldn't have missed, glasses are easy to throw

Actually hurting you would have been unsatisfactory. To make you think he could have releases hate/frustration efficiently

1st year of marraige huh. Doesn't look good, haha. Have fun raping him in divorce court cunt

Like others have been saying, he meant to miss you.

Once before I was born my parents got into a fight and my dad threw a full (glass)plate of macaroni at my mom. But it hit the wall beside her. It's a funny family story now, lol.

He did something stupid when he was mad, and unless he keeps on throwing projectiles at you, I wouldn't focus on this one incident.

You guys should really try and work on your issues though, it would be ashame if you guys got married for no reason...

Sounds pretty typical of a newly wed couple. Marriage is like that. Just look at it this way (assuming you have siblings), think about how you used to fight with your brothers and sisters growing up. If your fights with them were bad and frequent your fights with your husband will be twice as bad and twice as frequent, because there's more passion involved. It's just life, if you're around someone long enough you fight, and marriage is a long time to be around someone. So, you can either take the heat or get out of the kitchen.

If the problem doesn't go away seek marriage counseling. It works.

Cheers,
Lost

Sorry, its a 'domestic discipline' term and basically means you need a trip over his knee.

Why? He seems to be the one that initiated physical contact with her, out of anger no less.

Based on the info we have, I would place him in the blame (ie losing control more than she has).

Well was your husband raging psychopath when you married?

No?

Then I'll assume he's a typical 'modern' man (and that IS an assumption on my part) ie not prone to violence, would never lift his hand to you, takes out the garage without being asked and always puts the toilet seat down?

(dear god, shoot me please if i ever get like that!)

SO about the only thing that will cause a 'modern' man to get to the point of actually throwing things at you (but still missing) is you winding him up or brating.

I don't know, my husband takes out the trash but he doesn't always put the seat down and he has on occasion been close to hitting me. So I guess he's sort of halfway a modern man.
I used to flinch whenever people raised their hands because I used to get hit a lot as a kid but I got over it by my teen years and now it's sort of come back, because of him. I don't think I'd be willing be punished for my bitchiness. That would sort of just take me back into bad places.

But you'll keep on being bitchy until one day he's wound up so tight that he either does hit you or walk out?

Because by the sound of it , it does sound like you know you're pushing him.

I guess I do sort of push him but he pushes me too. That's sort of always been us. But it's not like I really actually want him to hurt me.

BTW- I just looked up what Domestic Discipline was- I never knew such a thing existed. Are you into that?

But even if you're old fashioned, isn't D&D a bit demeaning? Or abusive, for that matter?

Or maybe the knots you left in his stomach have now loosened and he has simply remembered just how much he loves you?

Btw you may find that while in Colorado he brings up the subject of having a baby. (again just pure guesswork on my part)

Hey thanks for taking interest in this thread. I didn't think anyone really would.

He does that all the time- he'll get incredibly pissed and violent and then just get over it. He rarely holds grudges or anything but I don't really know what's worse.

I don't really want to have a baby?

What the hell gets him so mad? Normal people just don't flip out for no reason, and then calm down a few hours later. And if it seems like just that, he was probably going over things in his head and pissed himself off - men are known to do that.

And when we get mad, leave us the fuck alone! Why don't women understand that? We don't want to talk, we don't want to touch or be touched. All we maybe want is a beer, a sandwich, some football, and to be ALONE without people's bullshit.

I mean, he's not a baby- I'm making it seem like he's bipolar crazy or something but we were in the middle of a fight. Of course he's going to be pissed off. I just don't get why we're all of a sudden becoming this way. Like, I love him but I hate him so much.

Why would the first two years of marriage "be like that"? I had this naive idea that you would marry each other because you were a great match and in love, not to "get over" two years of fighting to finally be happy together?!?

See, you're complaining about him; that he doesn't put the seat down. He shouldn't have to put the seat down, why don't you lift the seat up when your done instead?

Of course you wind him up, complaining when he doesn't do every little thing for you.

Or maybe the knots you left in his stomach have now loosened and he has simply remembered just how much he loves you?

Quoted For Mother Fucking Truth.

That use to happen for the first year with me as well. She would piss me off so much, I would storm off, cool down after 15min, realize that its not worth fighting over, then just come back and play nice.

That phase has passed. I'm really glad we went through that and got it over with.

Just remember this, people don't get mad for no reason. You said he isn't prone to violence so this isn't a normal occurrence. Something or someone in his life is giving him a lot of stress, it may not be you and hes just taking it out on you because he can't help it, or it may be you in which case knock it off. He clearly can't be that mad if hes offering to take to you to Colorado rather than filling out divorce papers.

Believe it or not , for a man who asked what 'warcraft' or 'MTG' were I actually got that joke.

It came out when I was a kid and I was an AVID player of D&D and also AD&D (hated 'Tunnels and Trolls though! Loved Cult Of Cuthulu).

Mainly though because my rabid christian mother considered D&D to be satanic (no I'm not joking)

Well, I was just being facetious right there, because I was responding to something someone else said. Or something. I don't really care about the toilet seat thing, I always thought it was just an overused joke that I never got.

We've been talking about Colorado for a while, and then he just basically confirmed it last night. Out of the blue really. I know he's not mad enough to be talking about divorce, he's been angrier before. This is just the first time he threw something at me and I felt a little threatened.

We're alright right now, I'm just kind of pondering at this point.

That's only just a tad judgemental. Fighting within a marriage does not automatically mean the girl is dumb trailer trash who gets married to whoever they meet first, regardless of how messed up he is.
I didn't say my husband didn't respect me. We jsut had a fight.

For jackketch- I don't know what my question is. I'm just confused and suddenly shaken up by this event.
