I would think it would be Simpsons, Family guy, or South Park. I would say it that order too. Family guy is really good...but there's not that many, and some of the jokes are just annoying. I like the way south park will step on anyone's toes though.

I like Futurama because it actually tells a story, and most of the time the story that it tells is a good one. Series such as Family Guy and newer Simpsons have more of a feeling (to me at least) of loosely connected events heaped together. This style, while sometimes amusing, doesn't stand the test of time as well as a series that actually tells a good story does. Futurama is also capable of telling extremely moving stories while at the same time remaining hilarious. Take for example the episode about Fry's brother and the lucky clover and the episode about Fry's dog. These episodes stand out in as the perfect example of this. Family Guy will never be able to compare to Futurama.

Simpsons are on top although new episodes suck, but old episodes are legendary.
South Park is second, seriously unlike the Simpsons I find the new episodes to still kickass. Trey and Matt are the shit.
Family Guy is kickass but there are not enough episodes and I find that I am frequently watching the same episode over and over again.
American Dad just blows.

3.American Dad is only funny because of the Dad and Wife, and Zee German fish.

The Simpsons for longevity and original ideas(at least in the old ones), South Park is just amazing and still my fav, Family Guy is good but dumber with loads of stupid jokes aimed at an audience of pre-teens and it gets old way faster.
American Dad is funny but its still a pathetic copycat of FG, unoriginal and quite stupid even if watchable when stoned.

I really liked the episode where Leela is stung by the giant bee and starts wigging out. It had a really cute ending and everything tied together quite nicely. |

Futurama gets an honorable mention, but American Dad is pretty stupid and poorly done, all said. Simpsons gets first because it's the longest running show on television and because Family Guy (which I thought for a while would eventually beat Simpsons) has been going steadily downhill.

I was of the same opinion about South Park for quite a while. A lot of the South Park episodes are pretty inane and depend on the shock humor of eight year olds swearing and misunderstanding explicitly sexual themes. However... a lot of them are pretty clever and offer acute ascerbic satire in an intelligent but accessible fashion. Worth looking into. But I guess I'm wrong by default, so guess I'll go. |
