I recall seeing the top 5 countrys who were most powerful Military wise but I dont recall Britain being in it, Probably due to the small numbers, but if we were all equal in size we would be in there. We got the SAS, Eurofighter and very well trained soldiers.

yes, because if nukes were introduced there would actually be a winner at the end of it?

It doesnt matter if you have 1 nuke or 1000, if one is launched the world is fucked, end of.

I know afew RAF pilots would would argue to the death over who has the most well trained pilots in the world.

If you shrank your military down to the size of any other countries then more than likely they would lose in a 1 on 1 battle you only win by sheer numbers.

Technical abilities dont matter much in war, although they do help.....Iraq and Vietnam are just 2 examples where just because you have more technology and numbers you havent won

Alright, the U.S has technically never lost a war. The Vietnam War is technically the Vietnam Conflict and if it wasn't for the people in Washington we would've kicked there ass even more. Look at the casulities on both sides, look at the casulties in Iraq. The U.S is number 1, with all their technology and training. Look what the U.S did to Iraq in the Gulf War. Iraq had the 3rd largest military in the world, it was destroyed in less than a week. They have a great Air force and the best Tanks.

Second is China because they have man power and their technology is rising. They have a lot of outdated shit also.

3rd is the U.K. They have good technology, good air force, navy, and good training. They also have an advantage because of there location.

4th is Israel, The Jews would pwn any country in the region. They have very well trained soldiers and pilots and a lot of battle experience. They have nukes also.

5th is Russia, they have nukes, men, and a lot of tanks and planes even if most of them are outdated. They also have an advantage in location, when you die and go to hell ask Hitler and Napolean.

That's from actual facts, from a wikipedia article I stumbled upon a while ago. That's in terms of how many troops the countries have. I can't remember who was fifth, but those are definately the first 4, believe it or not. I think 5th was either the UK or Russia. In terms of nuclear weapons it's probably fairly similar.

Numbers don't win wars. Nukes don't either, I was just taking what the thread starter said... he mentioned some countries having a lot of nukes, we have more.

Of course the Royal Air Force is going to argue that they're the best, but even I as an American would have a hard time between choosing between my own country and Israel.

Special forces don't mean shit. In this day and age, air supremacy wins it all. Don't even try arguing this point, there's no point. You have better Tanks? We have AH64 Apaches. You've got more troops, once again, AH64 (is the A10 still being used too?). Special forces aren't used much in full scale wars, at least, they aren't used to their potential or for their main purposes.

And, if winning whatever we're discussing included invading their country, it would NOT work here in America. There are too many good ol' boys with guns here, we've got our second ammendment rights. Every single American is part of our armed forces (minus the liberals, but you can have them).

America has yet to lose a war, we may have withdrawn from certain "conflicts" but we've never lost.

If it came down to needing a military totally annihilated, the U.S. could do it. Air Superiority is of utmost importance, and we ARE the air superiority. We wouldn't even really need to use ground troops, we can run bombing campaigns all day long.

You brits need to get your heads out of your 17th century arrogant asses and realize you are no longer a world power, but a small island.

And if you really think about it. We've got the best technology, one of the highest number of troops, more nukes, etc. Everything we've got is either #1 in it's field or VERY close to #1.

Look what the U.S did to Iraq in both wars, we didn't even need to use ground troops or tanks. I believe the largest tank battle ever happened in the gulf war and U.S tanks pwned those outdated Iraqi tanks. In terms of man power, the U.S doesn't have as much as say China, but we have enough to get the job done and if we need more we can draft people. Man Power doesn't mean to much when a missle miles away can hit enemy positions with pin point accuracy.
