Things To Do With Firecrackers
Well, to start... I live in Canada, and am not age of majority, so getting some materials is hard and/or illegal. I have "imported" some firecrackers (a few thousand), and some bottle rockets. I'm just wondering what I can do with the powder from the fireworks (I know how to extract it with minimal packer/clay in it). Is the powder pure enough to make a larger explosive? Any good guides on making larger ones?

I wouldn't bother. Set them off somewhere safe and enjoy it. No sense overcomplicating things.

Light them off or eat them. You pick.. In Canada... I would eat them... In Chicago, I'd light them off... I have a roll or 16,000 i need to get rid of this 4th..

Re: Things To Do With Firecrackers
Lets to some math.
Commercial firecrackers are limited to .05g of flash.
Now traditionally an m80 (which is what I assume you want to make) has around 3-5g of flash. So That means you would have to cannabalize AT LEAST 60 firecrackers, assuming that you get 100% of the flash out of them to make an m80. So to answer your question, yeah seriously just light them as is.

Light one then drop in down the barrel of a .22 caliber air gun and fire. Like a mini grenade launcher.

Sadly that wouldnt work, considering the amount he has + since hes in canada the fireworks he has are most likely blackmatch, the fuse sucks and burns very fast.

Re: Things To Do With Firecrackers
LOL! @ Smokey.
Things to do with firecrackers:
1. Set them off
2. Strap them to GI Joes (personal favorite)
3. Scare friends/family with them (another personal favorite. Notice I didn't say "random people")
4. Hold them in your hand (unless it's a really big firecracker)

Re: Things To Do With Firecrackers
Dont say it is hard to get chems in Canada. Loads of chemicals are avalible as household items. You just need to check. If you need help looking for a certain chemical, let us know, we will point you in the right direction, you still have to do some searching though, we dont spoon feed. (love that phrase)

So he has alot. That means he can do it many times. And you might want the fuse to burn fast. You might want it to explode when it is still in the air, not 5 seconds after it hits the ground. But, of course, you shouldn't do it alone. Have one person light and drop while the other is ready to fire.

Re: Things To Do With Firecrackers
bah. WHy can't people just appreciate commercial fireworks how they are? People work their asses off to make sure that their fireworks are safe enough for the general populus of MORONS to use, not to mention making them super-high quality. And what do people do? STupid stuff.
I dissaprove.

Re: Things To Do With Firecrackers
The squibs look awesome, I'll try those (but I need a good way to make a fuse, I'll have to look for some nichrome filament I guess). Guys, I don't mean to be an idiot or anything by this thread - I'm by no means an explosives expert, but I'd just like to know of any other fun things to do/make with firecrackers other than just light 'em off.

Technically it would be pernitrate, if it existed, as would NO be hyponitrite.
