Default Are people going to continually mock me just because i believe in something?

Wel ok so what, i think 'Scientology' is a good thing.. And its helped so many people etc.

I still dont believe i should be ridiculed because i said something positive about it...

I understand that most people only hear bad things about it, but i doubt any of you have actually heard the good things it does. How can you judge something with only one sided view points? All im asking is to keep an open mind about it. Dont just go along with what some mass media is calling it.

Ok thats all. *sigh* i know im going to be totally owned with this. But at least i tried.

Scientology is very interesting, I'd never fully commit myself to it though. But it is a good way of developing yourself further.

Scientology doubly so.

And yes, you will get slammed for believing in horseshit.

So by this post I can assume you're not religous. So what exactly are you doing that is stopping you from being controlled? Care to define what control is in a suitable context in regards to the thread? So we can see why you (Atheists) are not being actively controlled already?

I'm here to tell you, yes, that book was science fiction. 75 million year old aliens have nothing whatsoever to do with humans, at all. But, save for that, I'm not going to mock you, 10'000 people in my country put "Jedi" as their religion on the last census, some of them my friends.

It is physically and mentally impossible to write nearly one million books, save that each one consists of a paragraph or two. Perhaps you don't quite understand just how large of a quantity one million is? Someone has lied to you.

Assuming he did write this many books, the good majority of them would be worthless shite as one would have to make time a priority over quality. If suddenly the number of books a man writes takes precedence over the quality of his insight...wait, nevermind...that's been the case for the last 100 years, give or take a decade or two.

Alright, scientology mostly seems no more ridiculous than any other organized belief system. I do have a major problem with its stance on psychology and psychiatry. Things have changed a whole lot since Hubbard "declared war" on psychiatry in 1966. Oodles of better medications have come out, brutal practices have mostly or totally ended (depending on your opinion of ECT), and a lot of science has come out to back up this field (in this time it's really, really hard to believe Hubbard's claim that science hasn't shown that mental issues have neurochemical causes). Show me a schizophrenic who's been healed by dianetics and I might reconsider all of this . . .

Way to bring back painful memories chappy. My auntie had shock treatment when she was 15 for her epilepsy... This fucked her up for life. And you know why you cant fully heal someone whos had shock treatment? because its scrambled with the brain to such an extent that its irreversible. Scientoligists shut down Chelmsford, Which was a place where the doctors raped unconscious patients...

When hearing the word bigot used, I like to share Ambrose Bierce's definition of a bigot. I've never seen so much truth compacted into one statement. And, if you decide to reply with "I've never seen so much bullshit compacted into one statement", at least offer an argument to consolidate your judgement.

BIGOT, n.
One who is obstinately and zealously attached to an opinion that you do not entertain.

When are you political types going to learn that discrimination is a method of avoiding the inane? Denying an idea or judgement is not the ultimate evil

No, that site was created because Scientology is an oppressive cult created by a man whose only interest was taking people's hard earned money for himself. Scientology's history and practices are well-known and easily researchable from a variety of sources, up to and including various TIME magazine articles. Scientology has even been *banned* in some countries because of the negative effects it has on people. Or maybe you don't mind how the Sea Org division treats it's members and their children?

quote:
"Wel, good on you, i hope your happy that you believe another thing is a cult. I don't believe Scientology is a cult. I KNOW Scientology is a cult. It's called facts and evidence. If you actually tried doing some research you might actually learn something. Clambake.org is not the only resource you can use to find evidence. Like I said, look up past issues of TIME Magazine if you want more information. Just because someone is pointing out the terrible fucking flaws in your belief system doesn't automatically make them wrong. Stop thinking emotionally and start thinking rationally. At this point, you more than deserve people mocking you.

quote:
"Sorry i sound like a total jerk.. Meh whatever im over trying to prove somethings good to you people. Just fuck up your lives why dont you. Have fun.

TIME Magazine is a valid source of information, as is National Geographic. Add to that the thousands of ex-Scientologist testimonies, and even criminal investigations into the CoS by your own federal government. The information is out there, you only need to find it (and believe me, it's not that fucking hard.)

quote:
"why dear? it is only another 10 odd people's view points."

And what makes your viewpoint the correct one? Out of all these other people who know far more about this subject than you ever will, what makes you right? Your faith? Your faith blinds you to logic and reason.

quote:
"And if you choose to believe everything it says, good for you. But still, dont hate me for saying all of this ok?"

So far, you've managed to insult anyone who isn't as stupid as you are; that alone is reason enough for me to hate you. The fact that you keep reinforcing that stupidity only proves that you deserve to be mistreated. You and your church deserve each other.

When you place your belief in the following, you're in no place to call others 'idiots':
quote:
Who is Xenu?
I'm going to tell you a story. Are you sitting comfortably? Right, then I'll begin.

Once upon a time (75 million years ago to be more precise) there was an alien galactic ruler named Xenu. Xenu was in charge of all the planets in this part of the galaxy including our own planet Earth, except in those days it was called Teegeeack.

Xenu the alien ruler Now Xenu had a problem. All of the 76 planets he controlled were overpopulated. Each planet had on average 178 billion people. He wanted to get rid of all the overpopulation so he had a plan.

Xenu took over complete control with the help of renegades to defeat the good people and the Loyal Officers. Then with the help of psychiatrists he called in billions of people for income tax inspections where they were instead given injections of alcohol and glycol mixed to paralyse them. Then they were put into space planes that looked exactly like DC8s (except they had rocket motors instead of propellers).

These DC8 space planes then flew to planet Earth where the paralysed people were stacked around the bases of volcanoes in their hundreds of billions. When they had finished stacking them around then H-bombs were lowered into the volcanoes. Xenu then detonated all the H-bombs at the same time and everyone was killed.

The story doesn't end there though. Since everyone has a soul (called a "thetan" in this story) then you have to trick souls into not coming back again. So while the hundreds of billions of souls were being blown around by the nuclear winds he had special electronic traps that caught all the souls in electronic beams (the electronic beams were sticky like fly-paper).

After he had captured all these souls he had them packed into boxes and taken to a few huge cinemas. There all the souls had to spend days watching special 3D motion pictures that told them what life should be like and many confusing things. In this film they were shown false pictures and told they were God, The Devil and Christ. In the story this process is called "implanting".

When the films ended and the souls left the cinema these souls started to stick together because since they had all seen the same film they thought they were the same people. They clustered in groups of a few thousand. Now because there were only a few living bodies left they stayed as clusters and inhabited these bodies.

As for Xenu, the Loyal Officers finally overthrew him and they locked him away in a mountain on one of the planets. He is kept in by a force-field powered by an eternal battery and Xenu is still alive today.

That is the end of the story. And so today everyone is full of these clusters of souls called "body thetans". And if we are to be a free soul then we have to remove all these "body thetans" and pay lots of money to do so. And the only reason people believe in God and Christ was because it was in the film their body thetans saw 75 million years ago.

Well what did you think of that story?

What? You thought it was a stupid story?

Well so do we. However, this story is the core belief in the religion known as Scientology.* If people knew about this story then most people would never get involved in it. This story is told to you when you reach one of their secret levels called OT III. After that you are supposed to telepathically communicate with these body thetans to make them go away. You have to pay a lot of money to get to this level and do this (or you have to work very hard for the organisation on extremely low pay for many years).

We are telling you this story as a warning. If you become involved with Scientology then we would like you to do so with your eyes open and fully aware of the sort of material it contains.

OT3 in Hubbard's handwriting Most of the Scientologists who work in their Dianetics centres and so called "Churches" of Scientology do not know this story since they are not allowed to hear it until they reach the secret "upper" levels of Scientology. It may take them many years before they reach this level if they ever do. The ones who do know it are forced to keep it a secret and not tell it to those people who are joining Scientology.

Now you have read this you know their big secret. Don't let us put you off joining though.

There you have it, scientology in a nutshell.

wow ok someones a little bit testy. Infact im a Christian. and i go to church. ive only done a few courses that scientology has provided, and 1. its raised my IQ. 2.I am able to communicate better to people. 3.i am a better and more trustworthy person. I dont think there was really any harm in all of that.

You know, you're right. It's no use, that tool is already too far gone for anyone to help.

Fair enough, atheist or not though, why are you not being controlled? You can still answer the question.

Christianity was used as an excuse to enslave blacks, kill off the native americans, commit the crusades and inquisitions, etc. That is how he is not controllesd

BIGOT, n.
One who is obstinately and zealously attached to an opinion that you do not entertain.

It is wrong because that is not the context where it is often used. Wikipedia is better

"A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own."

When are you political types going to learn that discrimination is a method of avoiding the inane? Denying an idea or judgement is not the ultimate evil

Not giving it a chance is wrong. Just because something sounds wrong/silly/stupid/cracy does not mean you discrimiate against it immediately, many things liek Moon Travel at the start of the 20th century was considered crazy, as well as Gaileo and Copernicus' idea that the Earth revolved around the Sun.
