the SHTF...
the shit hits the fan slowly. i just read the thread about Il taking away uzi's and AK's. if something like this happened to you, would you honestly fight back? would you? i know its all nice and romantic to think about, but when the pig comes to your door, wanting one of your guns, are you really going to have the balls to shoot him? or will you just say, "this sucks, but i've still got my other guns"
and even if you do shoot the guy, you're only going to be used as another case for gun control.
my take on this whole thing: its already too late. if the shit hits the fan, its already too late. we are fucked. too many people have become pussified over the years. the Man takes your rights away slowly. too many people will just be willing to accept this and move on. too many people are willing to lose a little bit of what makes america so great, just because the alternative means fighting. and the very few who can't accept this will be labeled crackpots, lunatics, violent rednecks.
to compound this, those people that would be willing to fight are too spread out and disorganized. the few militias that exist still can't hold a candle to the Man. the Man will rape them with both bullets and propaganda.
the Man takes baby steps. no one decree will be enough to unite the whole gun-owning population. some laws will enrage a select few, but not all. others will target other groups of people, but not all. then one day, he will land the crushing blow, and by then, we have lost everything, and the amount of people willing to leave their families and risk death will be too small.
the shit is hitting the fan as we speak.

Damn fucking right! Honestly I would rather see them just flat out repeal the second amentment and ban guns completely instead of doing what they are doing. Because at least then people would stand up and fight! The way they are doing it now, little by little, either no one notices, no one cares, or they figure it's just "democracy in action" and the time to fight hasn't come. And maybe that last group is right, but then how do you know when the time to fight as actually come? quote: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Now just what is an infringement? Methinks many laws are already on the books that infringe this right. [This message has been edited by Cloaked Dagger (edited 03-18-2006).]

Re: the SHTF...
Tyranny is the default way of the universe which liberty briefly flashes through like lightning in a storm. It's just the way it is.
The bottom line is you can't worry about society. You can't worry about broad philosophical statements or political theories. In the end it comes down to family and friends.
Make and model, type and genre, these things are not important. What matters is whether you care about yourself, your family and your friends. If you do, youll know what steps to take.

Re: the SHTF...
http://tinyurl.com/r3eok When Zoran Djindjic was assassinated, there was a major operation aimed at destroying crime in the state. The operation was named "Sablja" (sabre), and during it, a decret was brought that seriously limited the right of owning and using firearms. Anyone who brought their weapon to the police to give it away wasn't questioned about the weapons history or usage and was free of prosecution even if the weapon was of illegal nature (like RPGs, AK's etc.). I couldn't fight that back. Itr was a nation-wide action, but I just remained calm and didn't rush in to give away my babies. You can't fight what you can't outgun.

Re: the SHTF...
"Knowledge is the only weapon you can ever truly own."
A wise man once said that (it was me), and its damn true. The government can only take away guns they know you own, so just build/steal/somehow aquire guns on the sly.
Or, even better, train yourself to be able to build your own weapons should the need ever come. The government will never be able to take this away from you.

Yup. Incrementalism is the gun grabbers' strategy.

no. thats not the message. the message is to fight now. fight while we still have a slight upper hand. the people in illinois should not have to up and move, because if they dont protest, if they don't try to stop that bill in its tracks, then thats just one more win for the other side.

+1, I'm too poor to leave the state right now. Trust me, I want things to change. There is just no organized civilian army of sorts that is big enough to do much other than be a nuisance. The NRA is all good and such, but every day I see shit going down that continues to screw me. I don't want to die in a fight that I'm most definitely going to lose.

Re: the SHTF...
I'm just finishing out my school year in Illinois, then i'll be attending college in Iowa, closer to my gym and farther from shitty firearm regulations. Heaven.
My old FOID card might make good target practice.
