Paintball Comment
A paintballgun regularly fires balls with thin outer shells designed to detonate on impact and release paint. duh.
It's decidedly acceptable to possess a weapon which fires projectiles at speeds of up to 400 (650+ with enough mods) feet per second only because these projectiles are basically HARMLESS.
The instant that you put a .68 cal ballbearing (or a .68 cal explosive ball if you're stupid enough to risk the firing impact) into your feed, your paintball gun becomes a deadly weapon (completely illegal)
I'm well aware that much of this forum material isn't exactly law abiding, however a metal sphere moving at anything more than 150 feet per second could easily prove fatal and would *probably* be an extremely stupid idea, especially considering the fact that BALLS BOUNCE
on a side note, as the friend of those who have had $1000 paintball guns ruined by idiot younger siblings trying to fire marbles, if you are deadset on trying to kill something with your paintball gun... only use something of the designated size... for the gun's sake...

Re: Paintball Comment
The weight of the bearing would slow its speed to only 100 feet per second at the most. Espesially lead. a 68 cal lead bearing weights about 5 or 6 ounces, while a paint ball weighs like 1 or 2 grams.

Re: Paintball Comment
Rat closed the post saying it was to stupid to comment on, so you make a knew one called paintball comment. This has nothing to do with pyro, and rat made a post telling newbs not to do stuff like this.

Re: Paintball Comment
hey nick.
shut up, don't challenge me if you're clueless
I've watched a guy CLOCK a steal bearing at 250, on a gun that regularly fires slightly under 400.
and G-warfare, what the fuck?
the previous post WAS too stupid to comment on, but how is it wrong for me to try and prevent a kid from playing with things he could kill himself with?

Re: Paintball Comment
Ok, dude, I've been playing both paintball and airsoft for a long time. Fastests speeds I've seen are 515 fps. That was on my gun (airsoft). Considering that from .22 gram plastic BBs, to steel ones, drops the speed to something like 300 fps, I dont see how in the hell you can expect a LEAD .68 ball to go even 100 fps from a paintball gun.

Re: Paintball Comment
Okay, lets get out the physics books. How much does a paintball weigh, and how fast does a good paintball gun shoot one? From this you could derive the total kinetic energy imparted to the paintball by the gun. How much does the ballbearing in question weigh?, by substitutuing this variable you should be able to figure out the velocity imparted on it by the same amount of energy. I hate math, so you can do the work.

Re: Paintball Comment
I'd love to actually figure this out...
However, considering my grade in algebra last year (14%), I don't think I'm even going to try.
