Default Nunchaku Connectors

Nunchaku- simple and nice to look at. Making a pair with a chain connection is easy, however, a chain connection does not allow for length manipulation. A chain connection can also lead to some complications with some techniques (none I know, but apparently so). So here's the question: Would anyone care to come up with a feasible way to build an adjustable cord connection that isn't just a knot on the end of a loop. In order to significantly extend or shorten the length, this would leave a tail of cord hanging off the end. So what I think i'm looking at here is a cord that loops through a metal ring, then folds back on itself and fastens somehow.
Anyway, all thoughts and ideas are appreciated.

Just use repair links, like I do. Making the chain shorter is simply a matter of taking out a link or two and to make it longer you just tack a few more on.
