Which form of combat??
Dear all,
In short have increadibly violent tendancies due to an incident about 6 months ago (for more check the punch bags thread in the "bad ideas" section) and want to take up a martial arts class/mma/general combat class, but am not sure which would be most fun. I'm either thinking Tae Kwon Do, Kung fu (am particularly interested in the Eagle Claw style), or general Vale Tudo/MMA. Wondered if anyone had any thoughts. Am specifically looking at non-contact non-sparring just wish to learn techniques (reason explained in the other thread).
Thanks in advance.

Re: Which form of combat??
Non-Sparring and Non-Contact is generally not the way to go in my opinion. If I were in your position with the choices of MA's that you have, I would go with Vale Tudo/MMA training.
But if you must go non-sparring/contact, especially considering your situation, you should look for a Krav Maga school. To my knowledge they don't spar but do train in no BS techniques. Krav Maga is apparently the IDF's hand to hand combat system.
I wouldn't recommend taking either ITF or WTF Taekwondo.
My two cents.

You can do anything you want in a boxing gym? I was under the impression that Boxing Gyms only taught, you know, boxing...ie Punching and defense against punches. But I agree with you on one point. If you do decide to get innovative and start doing whatever you want in the ring, like lets say, biting you opponent, you might just end up with a fulfilling and lucrative career comparable to Mike Tyson's.

Re: Which form of combat??
If Your looking for a good martial art you should try KENPO, i have been doing it for the past 12 years. It is almost a streetfighting art. Many teachers will overlap with other ideas from different martial arts. I HIGHLY recomend atleast looking into Kenpo. NOT to be confused with keMpo.
