wrestling/fighting advice
Anyone know the best way to get out of this one when your wrestling/fighting. I've been pinned this way before and find it difficult to get free from, specially when the opponent is heavier. When you are pinned on the ground lying on your back and your oponnent is sitting on top of you, somewhere around the abdomen or stomach area with a leg either side of your body, facing twoards your head.
Any advice from experience much appreciated.

Re: wrestling/fighting advice
The position you just explained is what in Brazilian Jujitsu is referred to as the "Mount".
The best way to defend against it is not get mounted in the first place by using your 'guard'. It is very difficult to get out off, and in my experience I don't recall ever escaping being 'mounted' by a heavier person.
One of the interesting things about the body mechanics of the mount is that you cannot strike the person on top of you in the face when mounted, unless your 2 or 3 feet taller then your opponent or you have morbidly long limbs. You opponent will have no such physical limitations in this position and can pummel you at will. This situation is lovingly referred to as "ground and pound". You can throw punches to the body, but that is pretty pointless since your hips are grounded, so you basiclly can only throw jabs.
This makes escaping the mount exponentially more difficult, since your opponent is pounding on your face while your trying to escape, and you cannot retaliate.
If you have wrestling experience, you can sometimes just bridge out of it.
Instead of trying to explain to you in text the various escapes, I will refer you to www.bjj.org . Just click on the Techniques links, then look for a 'mounted' section and it lists 5 or 6 escapes with explanations and images.

Re: wrestling/fighting advice
sounds like the full mount. this is what id do if ever was in a possition like that. i do alot of ground fighting. crunch up like your doing a sit up and grab the back of there neck. from there u can eather neck crank, which is just pulling htere neck realy hard twards there chest or u, or u can pull them down like your doing a neck crank then shift weight from left or right. then they will eather have u in a full guard or will try and get out of it. but thats jsut what i would do.

Re: wrestling/fighting advice
Check the Gracie's book on this - Carlos and Rickson I think. There is about a dozen ways to get out of this and the rear mount as well and straight reversals from which you can then go for a guillotine choke - or alternatively in the mount work an arm and use your legs and and turn and you can try and move it into an arm bar as Frank Shamrock did to win a fight in about 20 seconds in Ultimate Japan.

Re: wrestling/fighting advice
Troll, I just wanted to know something. Is this something you have against the Shamrock "family" or submission fighting in general. I mean can't agree with you more about the point about what Tito did to Ken at the last UFC but generally I would say that submission fighters do have an advantage over even athletic strikers such as Ortiz or Vitor Belfort. Don't know if you read the story about one of the Gracie's v. Benny "The Jet" Urquidez - "the Jet" got his ass kicked several times before he quit and he was a world class kick boxer and outweighed the Gracie by 30-40lbs. Interesting one would be Ken Shamrock and Tank Abbot you know everyone wants to see this one - should have happened ages ago but Shamrock broke his hand whilst winning a first round match.
