guns in the matrix
Im sure this has been said before in other forums but I saw the matrix last night and wondered what gun was pulled on neo in the car when they search him for bugs? thinking it is a browning high power or a cz 75. Also how would they be able to fire blanks out of and m16 (like in the lobby scene) I thought there wouldnt be enough pressure to cycle the breech, and the bullet wouldnt seal the barrel so woundnt most of the gas go out the barrel instead of thourgh the gas port?

Re: guns in the matrix
the guns also look like a custom colt 1911...
u dont really have a idea of how they fire blanks from a M16, maybe sealing the muzzle to get the gas...
the muzzleflash maybe added by computer...

Re: guns in the matrix
The military uses a thingy called a blank firing device. It's a red deal that clamps onto the end of the barrel and partially seals the barrel. That way, enough pressure remains to cycle the bolt. They make it red and easily visible so everyone knows that gun is firing blanks. For movies they might have something similar that fits into the barrel so it's not visible. Or, they might have a special gun that is designed to fire blanks only, so they don't have a bunch of ar-15s laying all over the place.

Re: guns in the matrix
The gun the oh so hot blond chick pulls on him in the car is indeed a browning hi power.
The whole upper assembley is made for firing blanks.

Re: guns in the matrix
That blond haired chick wasnt hot were you high/drunk or both when you watched the movie? Notice when neo fires those suppressed russian smgs that look a bit like a skorpion ( http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg26-e.htm ) the shells on the floor look like 5.56mm NATO rounds when the magazines of the guns is clearly too small for the shells. Also notice in the lobby scene when the swat team/security gaurds/army come in with m16s and spas12s they fire the spas12 in pump action mode usually used only when the round warrants it like firing blanks when a spas 12 has a semiauto mode.

What rlpnica said. In addition they probabaly use a reduced power recoil spring to make up for the lower pressure blank cartidges thus ensuring reliability.

Re: guns in the matrix
my fault, you were right now that i look closely. it is in fact a scorpion without the folding stock and what appears to be a cosmetic barrel extension or possibly a shitty flash suppresor. i took a snap shot from my copy of the dvd

Re: guns in the matrix
the extention on the end of the barrel is a kick-back damper, to use a scorpion one handed you would need one, without it, it wounld be too powerful for you to hold.
What I wanna know is what are the guns that the agents have?

Re: guns in the matrix
correction, the leaf-shaped openings at the muzzle is called as a MUZZLE BRAKE, not MUZZLE BREAK..
as the name implies, the muzzle brake will try to keep the muzzle from climbing/ recoiling by diverting the burst to the sides and thus the actual recoil from the muzzle is lower...

the lobby scene i have been lead to belive that is a real shot out without the opposition, then they are "over laped" for the effect.

What about the camera man and ricochettes (S?) that just seems nutterish to me why not just fire blanks and be done with it instead of two takes. Crazy talk I say
