Death to rodents!!
Just to sum things up. My trash has been all over the place every day i wake up in the morning. I hate cleaning up that mess. =( Anyway, i happened to stumble upon a gernade from a friend of mine. I figure i'll just rig it to my trash can. But my question is.
How does a gernade work? Can i just simply tie a string to the pin and let the rodent trip over it and it'll go KABOOM? OR Do i have to find something to hold the trigger down after i take out the pin?

Re: Death to rodents!!
You have a live grenade? I don't believe you.
The operation depends on your model. Most modern grenades require that you press the handle to pull the pin, as A) the tension from the handle will hold the pin in place and B) pulling the pin without pressing the handle would result in you having absolutely no control over when the grenade went off.
Rigging the grenade to your trash can is a very bad idea, assuming you really have the thing. It would likely take a sizable chunk out of the side of your house when it went off, as well as get you incarcerated for the better part of the rest of your life.
Get a trash can with a locking lid. Problem solved.

Re: Death to rodents!!
ah....so basically i dont have to press the handle. Just let that damn rodent pull knock over the trash can and a string tied to the trash will take off the pin. KaBoom!

Re: Death to rodents!!
Perhaps you should practice removing the pin a few times, just to get a feel for the tension. That way you can set a better trap.

Re: Death to rodents!!
Well, I just hope it works. I dont plan on holding down the handle or doing anything to it for the matter. I just hope half of the pin isnt left in the gernade when its yanked out. Or it'll be a waste.
Anyone know where i can get more information on the structure of a gernade?

Re: Death to rodents!!
Wouldn't poisoned food work just as well, and allow you to save the grenade for a more worthy target, such as a congressman?

Re: Death to rodents!!

Re: Death to rodents!!
Your best would probably be poisoning the thing. But it would be more fun to get a .22 and shoot the damn thing if you dont live too close to other people. It probably isn't a rat knocking over trash cans. It most likely would be a dog, cat, racoon, or possum. I have that same problem but havent taken care of it yet.

Yeah and leave surprise for the garbage men when they come right? Leave rat poison traps out, and keep pets away.

Re: Death to rodents!!
Lol... Get two of pieces of tinfoil, an electrically fired zip shotgun (any POS since it doesn't really matter whether it'll blow up or not), and some small marbles or pieces of plastic or anything small and non-conductive. Wire the pieces like the sides of a switch. Place one on your trap site, then put the insulator thingies onto it and lay the second piece of foil on these so they wont touch eachother. Check with a flashlight bulb or something, then aim and connect the gun. The rat will press the pieces of foil together thus closing the circuit and - ka-fucking boom! In fact this can be made so sensitive that a big horsefly will set it off.
