Well first off you people never give enought information, with that said for hunting to shoot bottles co2 is way better if you can aford the more pricy gun and buying constantly more and more co2's. A pump works just as well but is a bitch to pump up when the squirle your trying to shoot is running away.

Ok, so now the ubb code is not allowed.. Well anyways i were wondering wich one you guys preffered.. Pump up or Co2? I think ill go with the pump up because i dont like that every time that you shoot with a co2 gun, next shot will be less powerfull..

I much prefer spring piston guns. Good, constant power without wasting money on CO2 or wearing out your arm.

co2 is the way to go. get the desert eagle/400gx, its leet and fun but wont kill anything. i have one, read the review on my site at http://www.geocities.com/combatairgunreviews . this page is under construction and im not promoting it yet but i figured you can use the help so check it out. expect some spelling mistakes and lots of broken links in the other sections since its not meant for public viewing yet.

I live in Sweden and an air rifle stronger than 640 ft/s are considered a weapon and you need a license to use it (really stupid) so all the vendors write that they shoot 640ft/s but the Gamo Shadow 1000 shoots over 1000ft/s and it is marked as an 640ft/s rifle. And is it real difference between 1000ft/s rifles and 640ft/s rifles? And is there real difference between .177 and .22 rifles?

A world of difference, especially if you're looking to kill things with it.

There are three basic types of rifle. Spring ( Including Gas Ram), Pnumatic ( Pump Up) and CO2.

There is not a massive amount that can be done with CO2 in terms of having a high quility weapon. The canisters are charged to around 800psi, which means that you are looking at 8ft.lb of power. This is better than a good pistol ( Which shoots at around 6 ft/lb, but nowhere near a good rifle.
If you want a CO2, by far and away the best is the Rabbit Stopper, made by Crosman. These are the one's used in all the CO2 shooting comp.s and are far better than most, at a very good price. 200 dollars or so.

Springers are very very reliable, becuase there is fuck all to go wrong. There are also far more powerful. My local gun shop has a 46ft/lb springer used in Vietnam for shooting monkeys. The most popular springer is the BSA Lightening. Light, and has a massive scilencer, so it feels beautifully balanced. There is also a lot you can have done to them. I spent 170 on the rifle, and 350 having it tuned. This is my second hunting rifle. If you can bear to wait three months on a waiting list definately check out the new Theobun Springer. Very small, VERY powerful. good price as well.

The third type is the pnumatic. These hold their charge in a charge bottle, which can either be pumped or charged of a divers tank ( Thats what I do, get a second hand tank. A refill of the tank at a diving shop costs me 1.) The bottle on the rifle is charged to between 2800 and 3000 psi, so this means that a far more accurate and powerful shot can be made. Most rifles are regulated as well, so every shot is exactly the same, which doesn't happen with CO2. Pnumatics are dearer, but can fire from a magasine, so don't need broken after every shot. They are affected by desieling a lot more though.

.177 give a very flat shot, with little drop, but can not tranfer as much energy on impact. This means that they are usually used in tournaments, and for target practice, while .22 is used for hunting.

I have 3 rifles at the moment. I use two for hunting, a springer and a pnumatic, and a best for competition work, which is pnumatic ( No recoil or mussele jump with a pnumatic)
After testing a lot of weapons, I REALLY REALLY urge you to keep away from Gamo. They are really not worth the money, and are very poorly built. If your in the US, by far and away the best maker is CROSMAN. They also do a lot in .20, so you get the best of the two calibres. If your in the UK, and flush with money, look at Theoben and Logun. Otherwise, look at BSA and Webly.

Whatever you by never fire anything but Crosman pellets. They are made totally differently, shoot perfectly, and generally don't cause desiling.

You left out single and multi-pump pneumetic, the former used for tournament grade rifles that are not very powerful but extremely accurate, and the latter for most cheap Kmart class rifles.

The bit about Crosman pellets is a litte off. Crosman makes the universally shoddy Copperhead pellets sold at Kmart and Walmart and such that are generally very poorly formed, with a high deformed pellet rate. They also tend to leave lots of residue in the barrel. The also make, however, the renowned Crosman Premier pellets, which while a bit heavier than most are also some of the best money can buy. I haven't been in the market for .22 pellets for quite some time, but I recall hearing a while back that Crosman no longer makes the .22 Premiers, though they do still make them in .177. Premiers also use a harder lead composition than most pellets, so they leave less residue in the barrel.

A springer can diesel with any pellet. The pellet is not the determinant of the phenomenon - Rather, the amount of flammable lubrication in the barrel and chamber of the gun plays the largest role.

On the domestic side, Crosman makes the best line of pumps and CO2 guns. BSA far and away has the springer end down, though their guns can be a little more expensive than the others. Daisy makes a single springiner, the 131, and Gamo has the most popular line. Their product is a little more rough around the edges than BSA, but is quite serviceable and cheaper besides.

i havent used the premier since i only shoot combat replicas which entials high volume fire. its too expensive and wastefull for me to shoot premier when im only trying to hit man sized targets.

ohh and NEVER EVER use the crossman copperhead bb's. they are horrible and destroy your gun with traces of copper. it flakes of and ruins your barrel and sometimes causes valve issues. daisy makes the best bb's bar none. the quick silvers are unbelievably good for bargin basement prices.

Possibly because there aren't any? A pump pneumatic doing 900 FPS sounds a little suspect to me anyway. Spring can do it, but I've yet to see a pump-up do it.

Winchester have a very nice 1000fps break-barrel air rifle.
Have a look for it on www.sportsmansguide.com
Too tired to look myself. :/

Those are spring rifles, as are all RWS models.

Airsoft guns are not powerful enough to do real damage under any circumstances. They are fun to play with, though...
