wtf were they thinking
what was crossman thinking when they released the model 1077. this is by far the collest pelet rifle ever made. the only draw back is that people my age are far too irresponsible to own it. it has a twelve shot clip that fires as fast as i can pull the trigger. this is the idea hunting air riffle. aside from that it is a hell of a lot of fun to shot random things with it. its styled after a ruger 10/22 with a balanced feel. it is also extreemly light and easy to shoot. the only thing i dont like is that there is not drilled threads in the stock to attach a bipod of sling. oh well i guese i can have it all. i think ill put on an adco red dot site.

Re: wtf were they thinking
Agreed. I too have a Crosman 1077, and I quite like it. I've been after a pellet repeater for some time, since generally the only repeaters available fire BBs, which are inaccurate.
I have only two gripes with this gun: First off, it wastes CO2. While it is powerful enough for short range hunting when you first load a cartridge, you only get about three clip's worth of shots through it before you lose all your power. Also, the stock sights on mine were bent and woefully inadequate. This is easily fixed by attaching a scope, of course.

Re: wtf were they thinking
640 feet per second, give or take, with a fresh CO2 cartridge. The gun will still fire all the way down to about 250, after which it jams instead of firing.

Re: wtf were they thinking
Get your facts straight. No pellet pistol can fire 900 feet per second unless it's a PCP, and every one of those Industry Brand Chinese junkers is advertised as having a velocity at least 33% above what they actually achieve.
A recommendaiton to all: Never buy an Industry Brand or "Tech Force" airgun. They give the rest of the Chinese manufacturing economy a bad name.

Re: wtf were they thinking
even IF what youre saying is true that would make it just about as powerful as the crossman. though with the price of mosins and their ammo its not really worth it anyway.

Ah. It would have made things a lot easier if you had said so in the first place.
I had no idea the things were that cheap. This bears investigating. Where do I pick one up?

Re: wtf were they thinking
i think dicks sporting goods has them. they dont put guns on their web site so you would have to check it out at the store. if your really interseted let me know i have a dicks close to my house and i could let you know.
on another note does anyone have a model 357 from crossman. i love that gun. i am a daisy fan but when it comes to pellet nothing beats crossman (for plinkers). i have to say bb pistols are a lot more fun for plinking but are very innacurate. when i needs soem compact power its time for the model 357. for plinking i like the model 400gx(daisy). its a desert eagle replica and it has a blowback slide. best part is that it only costs 60 dollars (nothing compared to the airsoft version at $200)

You do realize that you can convert that gun to full auto, right? You can also do it with the Daisy 2003.

Re: wtf were they thinking
no, i had no idea. you are talking about the 400 gx right? now that i think about it, it may be possible by stoping the trigger from catching the hammer mechanism when the slide goes back. if that was posible then the gun would just endlessly cycle untill it ran out of air or the trigger was let up.

Indeed. I have seen a site with instructions on converting the 2003. Once I find it again I'll post the link.

Re: wtf were they thinking
Hey, has anyone had much experience with the Gamo brand pellet guns? I've had to re zero my scope so many times because the iron sights are always off mark. Anyway I have the Gamo 220 Hunter, 1000fps in one pump and it's busted a field point pellet through the side of a slightly rusty 55 gallon barrel. I've tried with a new barrel but all it does it give it a hell of a dent, about 1/2 inch deep.

Re: wtf were they thinking
your scope is messed up because its probably not an airgun scope. there really is a difference and its crucial in a powerfull spring gun. airguns have a double recoil
1 the gun fires the spring travels forward.
2 the spring compresses air to the point where it stops moving, then the air disapates and the sping travels further.
this destroys rifle scopes so get the correct type or get a pneumatic gun

Re: wtf were they thinking
This espeically holds true with the higher powered spring guns like yours. BSA and Tasco make some springer rated scopes that are relatively inexpensive. I use a Tasco 4x scope on my gun and it's worked very well.

Re: wtf were they thinking
I've never seen a repeater air rifle over here before (england)!
they sound pretty cool...but i've used many air powered guns and rifles but the best i've ever used is the one my dad gave me...i don't know the make or model but it's the kind that you break and load a pellet into the breach, click the barrel back up and fire it.
the aiming capabilities are pretty good for a 30 year old air rifle and the power is amazing!!!
there have been a few pidgeons who have flown their last flight over my back garden!!!

Re: wtf were they thinking
I pity you europeans and urban people for haveing such strict gun laws. I live in a rural area and I don't mess with air guns. Playing with real firearms is much more fun than air rifles.

Re: wtf were they thinking
i disagree, airguns have their place in rural areas. its not safe to shoot many targets with a firearm but can be fun and safe when engaged with an airgun. aside from that an airgun is much cheaper and a good training tool for young children. i regularly use airgun just to get a feel for real steel guns. an airgun which is an exact replica can get you comfortable and it does it cheaper. also firearms are intimadating to young kids and they should not start shooting with them.

I started on a .22 caliber and it wasn't intiminating in the slightest. It has no recoil, little sound, and was extremly fun.

were you six years old? because if you were then your parents are crazy assholes to let a child that young handle a fire arm. it only takes a second for a situation to turn into a tragedy.

Re: wtf were they thinking
So your saying that because my father started my firearm training when I was 5 he's an asshole? I've only shot myself once and that was with my previously mentioned pellet gun in my right foot, I had to fix the safety after that, and I never fuck around with any firearm.

Re: wtf were they thinking
Not necessarily syphon, most accidental shootings involving children happen when children are not instructed on the proper time, place, and procedures involved in the use of fire arms. A child that is raised to properly use guns and has a proper respect for there use, barring any kind of psycological disorder is far less likely to accidently discharge or improperly handle firearms. Granted it is often better to start children out on air rifles for reasons of handling there is a danger that this will lead to patterns of lax informal handling that can have disasterous effects latter on.

Re: wtf were they thinking
ill give you that. most gun accidents happen with improper use and poor supervision but its not a chance that should be taken with an extreemly young child. accidents happen, kids fall, they dont pay attention, a simple accident can become a tragedy. aside from that there is nothing that can e dont witha 22 that cant be dont with an air rifle when a child is 6 years old. hes not old enough to hunt or do much aside from target shooting.
