Littlest Leaguers Lined Up for 2nd White House Game
President Bush hosts the second game in a pint-sized baseball series on Sunday when children from two Washington area teams will slug it out on the White House South Lawn. The Senators League Fort Lincoln Brewers and the Ward 7/6th District Benning Park Parrots will be playing T-ball where, instead of facing a pitcher, children hit the ball off a waist-high plastic tube -- the "T" -- attached to home plate. Boys and girls aged 5 to 8 play on each team. Children can start playing T-ball, the entry sport for baseball, at age 4. It is designed to teach the primary skills of hitting, running, fielding and throwing without fear of being hit by a pitched ball. Bush, a self-confessed baseball fanatic, a former Little League player and one-time part owner of Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers, presided over Opening Day for T-ball at the White House on May 6. Baseball Hall of Fame member Ernie Banks of the Chicago Cubs will be the play-by-play announcer for Sund ay's game and Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, the only Democrat in Bush's Cabinet, will coach first base.
How can we get all the Losers to just step back, give this guy some room to operate and watch all the good things that will happen for America. There is no hidden agenda...let him do it....and weekend ball games to boot!
it delights me to see a real man living in the White House and comporting himself like a regular human being. What a change!
