simpler LSA extraction
ok i've been looking around and it seems to me that the most common way to extract the LSA from the morning glory seeds is to first soak the groun-up seeds in petroleum ether, to remove most of the stuff that will make you sick, etc. After this, the resulting seed mush is soaked in high-proof drinkable ethanol or methanol to dissolve the actual LSA out of the seeds. The seed mush is discarded, and then,in the case of the ethanol, the resulting liquid is drank, or in the case of methanol, the liqid is evaporated and the end product is eaten.
My question has to do with the ether, an article i read stated that most of the bad, nausea-causing chemicals are non-polar soluable, and thus petroleum ether is a non-polar solvent. On the other hand, most of the desired chemicals are polar soluable, and to extract these a polar solvent like an alcohol is used. Would it be possible omit the petroleum ether half of the extraction and simply use the alcohol to take the good out of the bad?

Re: simpler LSA extraction
Water has been used in place of Naptha/Coleman Lantern Fluid/Petroleum Ether. Of course it takes quite a while to evaporate. Its likely if you just use the polar-solvent part of the extraction you'll wind up with a bunch of stringy shit floating on top of the liquid.

This should give you the basic idea of what to do and what it does...just look through the links and find what you are looking for. Yes you can use alcohol to my knowledge, and creates no nausea. Well those were the instructiosn I followed anywho.
