I don't know what to trust now and what not to. Even on the street the game you play and the prices we pay...I just thought someone could give me a recipe in (layman's) terms.

My advice, of course, would be to not even try doing such a thing as making speed. Leave it to the professionals; you might end up blowing yourself up, which is how 90% of meth labs are discovered. You can buy speed/meth/LSD/MDMA/PCP pills wholesale, and resell them to addicts at 15 times the price you paid for them.

Old, yes. Tried, definitely. True, I don't know. SWIM says that if you just throw it all together like you say, it WILL NOT work. There is a lot left out. A cake is flour, sugar,water, and eggs. There is an abundance of information on the internet; some of it is good, some of it is bad, and some of it is just a big friggin' joke written by people who REALLY know how to do this (and just how easy it is) and want to "teach you a lesson". For those of you who fit the last profile: sorry, I disagree with your tactics. I believe in giving them the whole truth, just in bite sized pieces. So, I THINK if you wanted to boil the entire procedure down to a few lines, then getme has accomplished that by condensing the answer to your question into its absolute simpliest form. This gives you a basic "recipe", but demands that you research and LEARN the steps, procedures, techniques; information essential for making sure you survive your experiments. There is a little bit of truth in everything. Look for the things that are common in all the different methods you read, it will become obvious. Think about it.
