curious drano
does crystal drano have the same chemical reactions as lye it contains caustic soda is the closest thing I can find. also if usable does it have to be refined

Drano is lye but it is ussually mixed with all sorts of junk like aluminum and blue stuff???? It can't be used as sodium hydroxide because of these impurities. I don't know of any practical way to clean it either. Get some soapmaking sodium hydroxide.

found other stuff white but has little chunks of metal in it for drain cleaning says contains sodium hydroxide. also P2O5 rp?
