Ok... well he had a dream, and in this dream he failed 3x using the Iodine extraction from chemhead.

Process:
Add the following in a one gallon jug.

1 quart 7% T
3 pints H2O2
2 oz. HCl
1/4 cup DH2O

Mix and let sit for 20 minutes.

Well he let it set for 20 minutes... nothing so he let it sit for a couple hours. The only place he noticed the Iodine had been actually oxidize was on the cap were a few crytals have formed. Why is this not working? Is he supposted to use more H2O2? Should he be using higher then 3%? He thinks thats the problem... and that there is just not enough to oxidize the 7% T.

Any help would be great. Hes daydreaming that he has a gallon already thats been sitting for an hour an he is hoping to salvage it.

Hey I had a hard time at it too the first couple of times because they post so many different methods of doing shit you don't know who telling the truth and who's bullshiting.
I read the same one you tried yesterday.
It sounded good.
The best one I've found so far was (from memory) like 1pt. iodine tincture, it said if your using 7% tinc. then you want to use 2pts. of H.Perox. and then like a pt. of DH20 and a like a 1/2 pt. of muratic.
I've got it written down at home.
I wont be able to post again till Monday though cause I'm at school so.....

It was the same deal too.
Shake it up good and let it sit for like 15-20min.
You should end up with a bunch of black sand with little glitters in it.

When he went back to his day dream... he was gonna get rid of the stuff so he filtered it and to his suprised found that for some reason they were all stuck to the bottom w/ not floating. He ended up w/ a lot of nice grey crystals.

isn't I2 purple?

Perhaps if you are semi colour blind or see the I2 xstals in a weird light. Typically they are blackish with sparkly xstals in them

Chemhead worked for me with I2 no prob.
Scale it down first few attempts. my first dream I scaled down to 140 ml T. 1.1g
