Perhaps cocaine from organic sources as opposed to synthetic? I think we have a french-english dictionary screwup here, organic is sort of synonymous with vegetable.
Somebody could point him to a good ether purification or freebase post.

Cocaine hcl is a salt, that means it is a base (pure coca paste), reacted with an acid
(hydrochloric = hcl) when you freebase you use a more powerful base to remove the hcl, leaving you with cocaine base. This is good for checking for purity because a lot of buffing agents are neutral or acidic and will dissolve in the ammonia and not be present when the now not water soluble cocaine base re-forms. Homeade freebase is very addictive, it damn dear killed me and siphoned off the profits of a half years growing. You could make totally kick ass snorting coke by taking the base and dissolving it in acetone and re-salting it with hydrochloric, I am tempted to try this one day just to see what a rail of totally pure coke would be like.

If by vegetable cocaine you mean extracted from coca leaves, then a simple a/b will not do. Coca leaves can contain a myriad of other tropane alkaloids. If the ecgonine present in the leaves is turned into the methyl ester, then refluxed with benzoic anhdride, racemic cocaine will be produced. Depending on the methods used to clean the final product their could still be precursor or byproducts present. That could affect purity as well as cut.

Okey dokey then, do a regular ammonia or baking soda freebase. The resulting lumps of freebase are now non-polar in orientation, that means they will only dissolve in a non-polar solvent, and they are ph-basal, that means they will react with an acid, like baking soda(base) reacts with vinegar(acid). Powder cocaine is cocaine hydrochloride, when you freebase you use a strong base to attract the hydrochloride ion, freeing the cocaine base, hence the name "freebasing" To return the freebase to its original state, minus several impurities, you will have to take the lumps of freebase and dissolve them in a non-polar solvent like acetone or toluene(hot), then re-introduce the hydrochloride ion. You can use either a gassing setup and bubble HCl gas through the solution, or just add a little hydrochloric acid. As the solvent/cocaine hydrochloride mixture cools a precipitate will form, filter this out in a coffee filter and dry it out. Technically this should be the best coke you ever snorted, but a few adulterants like methamphetamine or heroin could still be present because they will react to the chemicals in a similar manner to the cocaine, but the most common buffing agents like glucose and manitol/inositol will be gone. I wouldn't bother with this procedure if your coke is pretty good to begin with, I once had a few rails of "dealers choice", rumored to be virtually pure cocaine hcl, I didn't even break out the stuff I had bought till about 2 hours after the dealer had left, zoom zoom.
