Default test for ephedrine

a friend of my sister sold her some already cooked cold pills for her to work with.she had a poor turn out,and thinks he might have sold her some e with some trash mixed in . Question is there a easy way to test the purity of e. thanks

Yes. Your ephedrine should be gritty like salt not waxy at the least in texture. Also, you can take a teaspoons worth and put it on a glass piedish casserole dish etc. pour some ice cold Heet over it just enough to cover the surface area and swirl your ephedrine around in it. Take you a hairdryer and evaporate. Once evaporated hold it up to a ceiling light looking underneath it. You should see pinwheels and have no waxy glaze/film anywhere on the surface. Remember epedrine hydrochloride is ephedrine in salt form thus it should look and feel like a salt.
