Has anyone had any dreams of otc methods, as a wannaBee dreamer im too much of a newBee to chemistry to think that much for myself, yet. Much obliged for any response.

You need to search a little harder, because there are tons of amphetamine synthesis's online. If you can find any older medicines with PPA in them, or ferment benzaldehyde to l-PAC, then reductivly aminate with ammonia to make PPA, then you could reduce that in any way that you would ephedrine to make amphetamine. You could make phenylacetone from otc products and reductively aminate that into racemic amphetamine, which can be left as is or purified into pure dextro. There is all kinds of ways.

Nice one madchem, i have found a couple but i guess i just need to look a little harder like you said.
Im on the hunt for the most otc method possible, with the amount of knowledge i know people like youself, acid etc.... have i thought totse would be a place to look thanx for the help much appreciated.

I was looking at:

1) dissolve 1-(X-phenyl)-2-propene in excess MeOH and gas with Cl2 at 0�C to get 1-methoxy-1-(X-phenyl)-2-chloro-propane (maybe Na2CO3 to catch H+ and remove Cl- as NaCl?)
2) finkelstein with NaI in acetone
3) NH3 in bomb

Sodium cyanide reflux with benzyl cloride in rectified spirit to give benzyl cyanide. Benzyl cyanide reflux with water, conc. H2SO4
and glacial acetic acid to give phenylacetic acid. Phenylacetic acid in glacetic acid heated over thorium oxide catalyst to give phenylacetone (P2P, methyl benzyl ketone)BMK to methamphetamine. Look in A Textbook of Practical Organic Chemistry by: Arthur I. Vogel 3rd edition it is all in there. A simple synthesis of amphetamine in Journal of Chemical Education vol.51(10)page 671 year 1974 by B.H.Groot Wassink,A. Duijndam and A.C.A. Jansen. Nobody goes to the library anymore or what? At least you will get the true synthesis right from the journals mouth.

nope
