can you grow e
I am so sick of all the tweek stories. What is this myth about growing E? Is it possible to grow ephedrine or a substitute? something about almond extract and letting it sit for 30 days. HOW?

Re: can you grow e
I am not sure what synth you are talkin about but its not true and wont work. YOu can grow ephedra and extract ephedrine from that.

Re: can you grow e
Isnt sasafras root used in making E? Or does sasafras root just have ephedrine in it? Or am I just way off here?
In any case, you cant just grow the drug! I know that much!

Re: can you grow e
Sassafras has nothing to do with ephedrine. People get the term "E" confused. Ephedra plants contain ephedrine.

Re: can you grow e
Recently I've been doing alot of reasearch into enzymes and fungal/bacterial biotechnology for use in alternate fuels production (I want to set up a micro biology lab to compliment my organic lab now) And I'd bet there is an organism out there that produces and enzyme that aminates terminal (or Beta) alkenes. Just a matter of loading safrole (or isosafrole) into a reactor with the proper substrates and vitamins etc. and innoculate with the particular organism. React for a few days and voila, extract and crystalize your product. If the organism metabolizes the safrole/iso substrate (most likely) one will need to grow a culture and separate the enzyme system then use it in vitro. Filtration (extracellular enzyme) or lysing (intracellular enzyme) will need to be used.
Ciao, gotta go kill some more trees!
