It can be found in snakebite kits. I hear it can be used to make an impact explosive, but that's probably some Anarchist Cookbook ver. Jolly Roger/Exodus that's flashing back in my mind, so don't quote me on that.

Its a powerful oxidiser. KMnO4. 4 Oxygen atoms. That means mix it with a powdered combustable metal and you can make it go boom. Perhaps try powdered aluminum.

You can mix it with sugar too. It can also be used for a number of oxidative purposes as well, from making and acid or aldehyde from an alcohol to synthesizing drugs like methcathinone or oxycodone.

Yep, that's all Jolly Roger bull shit. In the ACB, you can put a few drops of it (its not even a liquid!) along with a few drops of gasoline in a bottle and will "be as powerful as half a stick of dynomite". All bullshit though.

Indicator of what? This statement is way to broad, cause technically every chemical on earth can be used to indicate something.

You can titrate a easily reduced solution into a known KMnO4 solution and the purple color disappears when the equivalence point is reached. Not really an indicator but it is has a unique color.

Im no chemist either, but one favourite method with bird lovers everywhere is to spread the stuff on some bread, wait for the little buggers to come eat some and then watch them explode as the permangenate reacts with their stomach contents!

Take a big wine jug and swish about an ounce of gasoline around in it, put the permanganate on the end of a slurpee straw and use another straw to blow on it, directing it into the neck of the bottle, try to coat the insides as evenly as possible. Carefully screw the lid back on and throw rocks at it from at least 50 yards away, a good hit will get you a satisfying whomp and a cloud of black smoke. Ahh, misspent youth!!!

take the DRY Pot. Perm. and place a plie of it on a rock outside out of the wind. THEN place a few drops of Glycerine (drug store varity) and depending upon grain size and moisture it will spontiounsly combust...cool shit for a delay device or starting a camp fire. It's most important use besides pyro applications is water purification.
