wax
Sorry to trouble you by my mistake on liquid sulphur; this is my first time on this site. Thanks just the same for your help. Maybe this is easier: is there a method whereby colored wax (not candles) be removed of its color?

Re: wax
there are no practical means to do this what so ever. Maybe a reduced pressure distillation or chromatography but this is way too much trouble for something like wax that is super cheap and easy to get? What are you trying to do?

Re: wax
I've been told that wax covering of Edam cheese is pure beeswax but reddish. I want to turn it to its original colour to redye it greyish. This mixed with semi liquid sulphur I hope to make moldable, non setting sculptors wax (plasticene). I've been researching this 4 ages but I've still to refine it.

What Difference does it make to YOU tryptamine, what he is trying to accomplish. Are you the fucking FBI or what? He just asked some legitimate questions and you want to pry into his personal business. I think he gave more than enough explanation, more than I would have given. Can't you give him a better answer than that? If you know anything spit it out punk or shut the fuck up. With a name like tryptamine you have to be a cop and/or a fucking retard. Fred

Re: wax
Fred you dont know the first thing about chemistry so why dont you get the fuck out of our forum. We are curious as to what he is doing, and we offer our assistance for free so we deserve an explanation. I mean what kind of a fucking retard are you??? Like we are going to turn him into the FBI for making wax?? Oh boy, he sure is busted now... the police will raid his house and find a clandestine wax lab and he will definetly spend the next 40 years in prison for manufacturing wax. Your a retard and have no idea what this forum is about so get the fuck out.

And so I ask misplaced where exactly are we when we are here?! Hmmmmm.........looks like we are in "Laboratory Tips" to me?! Hence, to me your name says it all!! lol!! And Not Fred. Dude. You really need to get the fuck out of this forum too! The Moderators here are chemists. Knowledgeable in all factets of chemistry. Whether it be chemistry in the classroom(college level mind you! NOT Junior High!) to chemistry of the Counterculture. So acting like a punk like you did is uncalled for! And misplaced discounting all the helpful knowledge these guys have divulged and taking it personally when called shit like the Feds and basically having to see such blatent DISREPECT is going to piss them off dude! You're the prick and that's my .02! Recognize and respect........what comes around goes around.

Re: wax
Can't u guys face a challenge? The Italian plasticene (the professionals use not the kiddies' stuff) has been and still is a closely guarded trade secret for over 200 years and I think it's about time somebody discovers what's the fuss is all about. I don't need to buy coz I've got loads of it - just for the fun.

Re: wax
Seeing that no solutions are forthcoming for my original query I'll submit MY method to decolorize wax, just for the record: Roll out the beeswax as thinly as possible. Fill a transparent container (the bigger the better) with water and immerse the colored (red in my case) wax in it. Keep the wax under water (s.g. 0.9). Put the whole setup in strong sunlight covered witha sheet of glass. U.V. does the rest for after about a month the color starts to fade and the original color returns. This method really works but it is laborious, time-consuming and messy.

Re: wax
OK I'll try it at least it wouldn't evaporate the water in the container necessitating of topping it up regularly.

Re: wax
You can get clear, or at least pure, beeswax anywhere. Try a furniture restorer, or a hair dressers that does dread locks. Both these places will sell you pure beeswax.
Showed this sight to my girlfriend. She's a bit arty, and has seen the stuff your talking about. She's messing around with it tonite, and i guess I'll post a recipe tomorrow.
