Sodium Borohydride:
A strong reductant for aldehydes and ketones, which converts them to the corresponding alcohols. Its advantage over Lithium Aluminium Hydride is that, being less reactive, it can be used in aqueous solution. An example of its industrial use is for the reduction of nickel(II) chloride to produce a nickel surface on plastic for high-quality vinyl record masters.
its also a derivative of borax.
