Re: Opium
Acidmelt, the plant he talks about exists. It might contain some opiates, but is most likely filled with lots of other crap.
when the latexy resin sets, it becomes reddish black, just like the papaver.

Re: Opium
no, nevermind i was wrong. maybe it was opium lettuce, but the alkaloids in opium are only present in Papaver somniferum, no weeds.
WAIT!I think i may have identified it however as Papaver rhoeas. Which grows in Europe and was once used as a cough suppressant and sedative. Its also known as the corn and flanders poppy. the shirley poppy was developed from it. Containing papaveriene as somniferum does, it however does not contain codeine or morphine. It also contains rhoeadine and neither of the two of its main alkaloids are known to be sedating. The old cough suppressants the petals of the red flowers that bloom off the plant. The milky type juice from the plant was made into the old European sedative and when the flowers are fresh they smell like opium.

Re: Opium
its also known as Corn Poppy and Shirley Poppy. I was only able to find one site that went into the chemistry of it and opium. I hope that its helpful. http://www.undcp.org/bulletin/bulletin_1951-01-01_2_page004.html

Re: Opium
acid- not to be mean and i know apparently it wasn't rhoeas but the Shirley was developed from it and is different in species than the Corn(rhoeas).
jordax- that sux for you. maybe next time you will correctly identify a drug before you do it.

Re: Opium
you and your moronic, garden-weed smoking friend haven't even descibed what it looked like, smelled like, taste like, etc... the five basic senses shit for the plant and backround info on it like where it came from, climate, season, what it was growing amoungst,etc.. or what the experience was like.
