I dont know too much about ephedrine, but I would say use it anyway. Always use dH2O. Esp. since the chlorine will attack amine functions.

yes it absolutely HAS to be distilled H20. use distilled H20 for anything that calls for water in a meth synth or extraction process.

you want to use both. i would suggest doing a few extracts with methanol first, filter and evap. then mix with a little distilled water, and set in the freezer for about 45 min. take out of the freezer and pour directly into the filter. it will take a little while to filter because it will be partly frozen. after its goes through the filter, the water/Pfed should be clear. if not, put through a few more filters and evap. as long as you dont live in Oz this should be a good enough method to get some pretty clean Pfed.
