Re: are there any
no, japan has yet to build a reasonably fast compact with 8-cylinders. in fact, they have not yet released a car in north america with a V8. my question to you is: what's the big interest in imports? there's nothing wrong with them, but you sound like the kind of noobie/"kewl" person who'll put some fancy rims and a fart exhaust onto your little econobox just to look cool. If you're clueless in the way of the automobile, then I suggest you either do your homework first, or don't bother.

Re: are there any
There are a ton of European imports with V8s, though. I certainly wouldn't mind having one of those little F355 drop-tops with the quaint little 3.5L V8. They only push what, 370hp?
Japan seems to think 6 is enough for anyone, though.

lol, yup, it's actually 385 HP, and it'll go 180 MPH, 0-60 in 4 seconds hardly what I would call "quaint".

Import=not american, but available in the US. It doesn't just apply to japanese vehicles. There's lots of import v8's. Mercedes and Jag come to mind right away.

Re: are there any
I know, I know, but the point is, I think the guy is referring to japanese cars. since usually people refer "imports" as "japanese" and don't consider european stuff.
anyways, if you're thinking japanese stuff, lexus(toyota) may have brought out an 8 or two, but these models usually aren't bought by the middle class in japan. V8 is considered a HUGE luxury over there.

Re: are there any
C if you want a fast import car, go to new zealand, pick up a R33 Skyline with a 6-in-line engine, and tune the balls off it. you dont need a V8 to go fast, and i hardly doubt that you could afford to insure a V8. How old are you?
