How many people out there are sick of fucking Civics? One out of every ten people in my town drive em' and they think their badass. I belive they honestly think that just because they have a spoiler and ground effects, they can go really fast. The truth is though, that a stock 4-cilinder CAN NOT go over 110. The only way they go fast is with NOS or supercharging, which 98% of Civics don't have. So wise up stupids, your car ain't the shit.

I laugh everytime a pimped out civic pulls up beside me at a light and wants to race me. And boy do they look pissed when I win. Maybe having a jeep beat their "pimp mobile" puts things into perspective to them.

and hey! the lil cars sound like suzukis for a good reason. they can only put out so much exhaust you know. with a big block u can set the idle really low for some kick ass top end power, giving it a real intimidating rumble. u can do that to a lil teeny bean car too. and it sounds like its underwater. seriousley. same style of muffler, the 4 banger will sound like its underwater. so they change the muffler so it will have the same decibel noise, but comes across as more of a buzz.its just a matter of what u prefer, or in reality, what u grew up with. as long as its done right, a tuned four cylinder exhaust can be absolute music. as with a tuned big block that rumbles your bumper off when he pulls up to the line.

and thats why suzukis sound like, well, suzukis. the smaller the engine, the buzzier its gonna get. have u ever heard a banshee at redline?

EVER civic that tries to look fast, ISN'T. there are no civics with V8's in Town, there are no mythical civics that can beat a Ferrari, and lastly, you are talking out your ass. If a Ferrari 360 Spyder, A porsche 911, and a Viper were beaten by a modified civic, it means 1 of 3 things.
1) the driver in the other car doesn't know how to handle a proper sports car, and wound up doing a burnout
2)the ferrari/porsche/whatever had indeed no intention of racing, and was simply cruising
and 3), the most unlikely: the Civic had a huge turbo charger, and after intense modification that costed thousands, now pushes 600 HP.

all of the cars i talked about were stock except for the 914 which was pushing around 250 hp and they were all beaten by the same civic, a b18 which was pushing 330 hp. this was a privately owned civic that had only been dynoed twice, and never saw a time slip at the track. and i have video. i bought it from a dude on a burnt cd, but it might still be at www.streetracing.com

You can make anything run fast if you throw enough money at it. Although I don't necessarily agree with everything that override says, I do agree with parts.

What's more impressive a v8 muscle car running fast or something with a 2.0 L 4 banger running the same speed? I'd have to go with the 4 banger. Although the v8 is usually going to be thousands cheaper to get into the 12-14 second range.

I posted the link to the 13 second minivan somewhere, but don't feel like finding it. That thing would whoop blown mustangs and camaros all day long. It also whooped a supra or 2. He didn't spend very much on it and it looked stock other than the slicks up front.

Then you have the other extreme. Kids with a civic that put a wing, fart tube, stickers and a huge tach on their car. Maybe lower it and change wheels and tires. Those guys are the posers that give all honda owners a bad name.

I have seen 4 cylinder imports whoop high end cars and even run pretty close to crotch rockets. Those are rare and most of the time nobody is going to pay any attention to them because they're used to seeing nothing but posers.

geez, man, get over it. My favorite car is a Volkswagen Corrado SLC, a car with a 6 CYLINDER in it. 178 Horsepower. A sport Coupe, that, in it's day, in stock form, could run any other ricerocket off the road (note: the Corrado is technically a "ricerocket"). Which leads me to my next point:

I don't "worship" 8,10, and 12 cylinders, it's just they are technically better, they have more torque, and they can handle more power. and yes, I know how heavy they are. put 4 turbo chargers on a 16 cylinder, and what do you get? over 1000 horsepower! and guess what? the engine can handle it! very easily! (I'm talking about the Bugatti Veyron, of course)

the bottom line for me is that European cars are the best. they make the best cars, they run everything else off the road (Mclaren F1, ferrari Enzo, VW corrado, in their respective catagories)


on a side note, I came across a story (and a few pics) about a VW corrado that had an Audi quattro system dropped in it, and the engine was pumped to nearly 300 HP. It still rules any pocketrocket on the road!

Damn rotary engine was also a gas-guzzler(apex seals were worn)

that rotary obviously wasn't good condition. the guy probably didn't maintain it. I've plenty of happy stories about the RX-7. the only occasional problems are usually the above mentioned apex seals, but due to the fact that there's not nearly as many mechanicals as a normal combustion engine, theres not much to wear. some guy in town has a blue rex, and he rescued it's sorry ass from some guys yard. the only thing that really did work properlly was the engine.

I can't wait for the RX-8.

no, they've (germany) tried to take over the world twice. Vdubs cost so much because they are, in fact, of higher quality then every other car in it's class.
they are loaded with everything you'd thing is optional, and make it standard.

I've said it before. Seeing a 4 banger economy car run 13s is alot more impressive than seeing a v8 run 11s. Both would be awesome cars, but the 4 banger guy is alot more of a mechanic than the v8 guy in that scenario. Don't get me wrong, I love big cars and big engines, but that's still how I see it.

If this helps at all, at my school there is one asian that owns a ricer and the rest of the kids that own ricers are 'wiggers.' I drive a civic and I like it because it looks alright and it gets good gas milage.

All I want is a fully loaded V6 Accord, with the Honda spoiler. I know the thing has no use, but I like the look. =)

you know why I wouldn't be impressed if an econo car ran 11's? because 1/4 mile runs don't count as real racing. circuit racing is the proper way, none of this straight-line shit. if the econo box is able to hold it's own on the likes of monza, suzuka, or nurhburgring, and keep up with the likes of a porsche 911, ferrari 360, and mazda RX-7, THEN i would be impressed. however, when was the last time you've ever heard of that happening?

Take an econo car that costs around $15,000, then dump enough money into it to be equal in price to a ferrari or porsche and I can guarantee that it will be a bad ass car and should be able to hold it's own quite well.

1/4 mile runs are usually used to compare cars more often because that's the type of racing that the majority of people have access to. It's also the closest form of racing that can be done on public roads(although it's a no-no)

Take me for example. There's 4 dragstrips within a hundred miles. There's not a road course within 4 or 500 miles. Most people are in a similar situation. I love watching road races, but they're not as easy to get into as drag racing.

I especiallylike when a car won't start after about 90 tries and 30 minutes of cranking. Then of course the battery goes dead. The expert mechanic on scene always says"Yer battery is dead, it mush be yer alternator going bad". Never mind the fact that it didn't start on the first 90 tries.

civics are cool: independent wishbone suspension(ala formula 1), they're cheap, they're reliable(until you start tinkering), they're light(so get more gains out of more hp)

ricers on the other hand....no

for 500 bucks you can get a civic shell $2000 for an integra type R engine $3000 for tools and bolt on's(such as rims, suspension parts(not spring clamps)full exhaust intake etc.) and for $5,500 you have a 230whp 2,300lb car with air conditioning that can do high 12's - low 13's in the quarter and has the handling to boot

I've beaten MANY v8 mustangs and one yellow late model corvette(although it was a slow old guy), in my second generation HONDA crx with a b16 swap and 50 shot. it cost me 6000 all together to build a car that is faster than or as fast as a production corvette, and after i get my prokit it'll probably handle better. so in short, quit bitching about shit you don't know cause you saw a movie, and actually look at the 9 sec civics that cost the same as your production 6 cylinder mustang. (note: my car doesn't go 9 sec)

Show me a street legal civiv that runs 9 sec quarter miles that costs the same(in the 9 sec setup) as a 6 cylinder mustang. Let's put it into perspective, a stock viper runs mid 12s. ne ways now that i calmed down i hae a few storys... i live on a street that is 2 blocks approximately a quarter mile. now i see tons of races all night. and i will agree its usually a civic with an exhaust pipe and wing that looses but every once in a while they win. Now i cant say ive never seen them win. It all depends on what u put under ur frigen hood an exhaust wont do much with a stock 4 cylinder engine!!! if u take a civic change the intake-outake valves. time it properly you will gain like 20 horsepower (dont quote me im not 2 sure bout that) adding a body kit will lower drag which will help if your car can reach a speed where it needs it!!! wings are useless if ur car is a chicken in a box. see where im going u should upgrade the parts that need upgrading. and u should try to learn abit about cars before u leave it in the shop for a day. most peeps i see racing civics are younger kids beacuase there just getting started ne ways if you do a good job on a civic (pretty much replace motor) it will preform well if u add a fart machine it wont change anything so for the amount it costs to add a fart machine u migh aswell go to the gun shop buy a gun then shoot out ur opponents tires while racing (that will help u win).
