get a first generation Integra (pimp-mobile)or an early 90's prelude VTEC, if u can find one that fits your budget.

yes, try looking for an older volkswagen, beetles are really easy to pimp out with engine mods. (I've heard someone putting a Rotary from a rex into a bug).
or, an actual Rex, preferably older. you could also try an old datsun 240Z. those ones kicked ass. an Integra seems too "wigger", or rice racer, so I'd go against that one. American cars have a tendancy to be crappily made, so I would go against those.
if you just wanted minimal transportation, nothing fast, then you could buy a cavilier, or a neon. perhaps a civic, if you want good mileage. but for gods sake, DON'T bother with shitty makes, such as:
Yugo
Lada
Ford
Hyundai
Kia
Daewoo
saturn

those ones will get you laughed off the road, if it doesn't break down first.

a body kit for an rx-7 will cost you $800-$1200, if you want a quality good one. and dont buy a gtu, buy a gxl, gxl 2+2, or a turbo.

also for under 6k you could but yourself a early 90's nissan 300zx, faster and nicer looking then the 240, but the 240 isnt a bad choice

You've gotta make a choice. You can go fast, you can be comfortable, or you can just chill.

When I started looking for a car, I knew that I either wanted a Datsun Z (I was looking for a 280 Turbo, actually), or a VW Bus. The Datsun is quick and fun to drive. The Bus is slow, but it's got space and character. It's also fairly easy to work on.

In the end, I decided that going fast wasn't really necessary. I ended up with a 77 Westy bus that seats (and sleeps) four comfortably, and makes for one hell of a party wagon. Now I just have to put the engine back in the damn thing.

I paid about $1600USD, plus the cost of an engine rebuild.

Just get something that matches your personality.

no shit. and you said XR7 like 2 or three times now. its a MAZDA RX-7. learn about cars and shit at least a little before u go out modding your car. i have seen people dozens, i shit u not not DOZENS of times get rocks thrown at their cars when true tuner and after-market buffs decided that they were all show and no go.

Why in the hell wouldnt you want a GTU? Next to the Turbo II, the GTU and GTUs are the most sought after FC Rx7's out there! GTU has everything the Turbo II has, Except for a Turbo. It's basically the no frills, less weight, racer friendly version. the GXL is more of a luxury model. But it's basically all up to him, if he wants something to be Fast, handle like a Dream, and look nice, get a GTU or GTUs. If you want Leather seats, a Sunroof, and Power everything else that adds more weight, by all means get a GXL.

youre right, but why would you get the lighter version when you can have luxury version with all the things you listed above. not sure but i would certainly want all those things which would add about 30lb at the most to my car and just strip things off which are not needed like the back seats...
