Default how to learn?

how do you guys leanr about cars and stuff? how they work, what kind of engine, how to tell a 68' from a 69'? shit like that. i dont understand how someone can just glance at a car and tell me the exact year and what kind of engine it has in it. id like to be able to, and id like to start working on cars and know how they work, and how to increase performance before i get a car of my own. id like to get a red or dark orange 95' ford probe gt 6 cylinder manual trans. ive driven a 93' once and they drive nice, and im savin up money for one. but if i fuckin sumthin up the first time i drive it, id like to know how to fix it, because it would save me alot of money in the long run.

Try reading Road and Track. then try frequenting BB's such as supercars.net. it's full of car nuts, and a crap load of cars to view and learn about.
the other way is to get an old junker, get some kind of repair manual, and start screwing around with it. you can attept to repair it, but if you ruin it, it's no biggie. after all, it's still an old junker.

as for telling what from what, simply memorize what the car looks like, and look for tiny differences from other models.

how does an engine work? you can't be serious... you know the basics, right?

also, go to your local public Library and look for the Road & Track Encyclopedia of car parts etc. it's a small white book with a top view of a Ferrari 355...
